Bad news grow may be over ... Just when they started to look ok.
I fed just now and little white bugs are moving in and out of the top layer of my coco. I am pretty sure they are fungus knats or root aphids. They move really fast and don't seem to like the light.
I think I am going to go hydroponics so I don't have to deal with this.
It makes sense for all the issues I have and the taco leaves.
Bummer
I tried to capture it on my phone but my hands are too shaky right now I am too upset. Maybe later I'll get a good shot or video.:oops1::WTF:
Tiny white bugs are most likely springtails which are harmless, a pic would be helpful but I wouldn't panic.

:yeahthat: @DoobieBroGrows I think I am caught up in here I had massive amount of quotes but it got confusing so I'll just lay it out here.. I run coco with megacrop and I also run CoM Stonington blend soil separate setups so if you need anything I'll try to help..

I use spinosad treatments regular in my soil and coco pots couple time a grow and have had a lot better luck with bugs along with Mosquito bits

I run Hydroguard in both setups to it is a root inoculant and very beneficial most growers here recommend having some on the self just incase..

I also have been having similar uptake issues with silica in my RO I use NPK RAW silica.. I was adding it first to the RO think I was doing that wrong (still work in progress) I am learning that the RO needs to be stabilized over night.. I use .3 grams water soluble gypsum and .3 AG Epsom salts per gallon then let it mix over night at least 1hr.. I then add silica and wait then added the rest on my nutrients.. I am learning the hard way also that adding all the ingredients in the proper order is very critical for all the ions to be available to the plant

I just ordered some hydroguard. Will that help with preventing the bugs on my next run?

I will try to get a video with them when the lights come on in an hour. I don't think they are springtails because I have seen them before at a friend's grow years ago. They were in his runnoff also and I don't see any in the runnoff. I found my Samsung phone so I should get better shots today. So I read that drenching the roots in a hydrogen peroxide/water mix that it will kill the bugs. Should I not do this? I haven't heard one person suggest that so idk if I read wrong on the fancy thinking box.

Ps. The leaf curl is what is really making me worry. Springtails don't cause the leaves to canoe so this has me worried it is worse than just springtails. I admittedly over watered early on. Also my Canna Coco has lil pieces of wood or tree bark in it. Idk maybe they are big ass chunks of coconut but they are pretty much the same as wood chips.

Going over my notes from the last grow I had some success with the silica when I would first add 1 mil per gallon of pH up to my ro water then wait a good 30 minutes then add the silica then wait 30 more minutes then add Cal/Mag and Grow nutrients.
So I think I will make a mix that way and try the silica again.

@JP1 @Suki you both were right. Springtails. I need to figure out what is causing the canoeing. Maybe they were stunted by me using silica incorrectly. On one hand I think i should start over. And on the other hand I am thinking they recovered last grow so why can't it happen again.
They smell amazing. But idk lol.
Every time I think i know how to grow this plant something happens that makes me realize idk jack shit. Lol
:coffee: :crying:

Yo @DoobieBroGrows Springtails are from too much moisture and that leaf curl could be related to that too. So might just be an overwatering situation. Diatomaceous earth mixed into the top of your coco will get rid of them. Also move that humidifier farther from the plants, or maybe just take it out. Are you tent walls wet?

No tent walls are dry. If I take the humidifier completely out of the tent the humidity drops to 35%.
I can try to put it outside the tent and see if it does anything. DE I will have to get some. I also heard a layer of sand can on the top can prevent them also.

Sand is really heavy though and won't actually kill them. DE works on lots of bugs and it's cheap. Just get food grade... The hydroguard won't do anything for the bugs, but it'll help pretty quick if you're having root issues. Wear a mask when working with the DE since it's not great for your lungs and stuff. It's pretty much ground up sea shells and it'll add silica on its own

Thanks bro. I will get some DE today. Will it affect ph?
