Mephisto Genetics Mephisto New Strain Test: Sour Crinkle (Only1Sky)

Day 54 for first Sour Crinkle plant. Doing fairly well. And day 45 for the second plant, growing in very similar size and shape. Both enjoying bottom feeding from the reservoir of Prescription Blend's bloom mix.

i had a great experience with this strain bro i only grew her in a solo cup and its nice to see her in a bigger pot

@St. Tom I grew the original Sour Crinkle exactly 3 years ago, and actually still have a tiny bit left. The Mrs. likes the strains that lean heavily on the indica scale, so the original was much appreciated. It will be interesting to compare then-and-now.

I recently posted that these two Sour Crinkles, which are separated by 9 days in age, appeared to be growing very similar in size and shape. But there is a significant difference, the 2nd plant has noticeably larger leaves. This, plus the fact that they're both similar in height despite the age difference, suggests to me that the 2nd younger plant is actually going to wind up being much more substantial than the first. Here's a photo looking down on the two side-by-side - you can see the difference in leaf size.

Wow, two weeks have passed since the last update. Where did the time go? Maybe I'm just pretending that 2020 is over already, or holding my breath while hiding under the covers. :frowny:

Anyway, its now day 70 and 61 for the two Sour Crinkles. Despite the 9 day age difference, the younger (#2 on the left) has clearly established herself as the more dominant plant; bigger leaves and slightly bigger bud clusters. But, #1 is no slouch either. Both are going to be well received in the medicine box.

Here's #1 at 70 days:

And then #2 at 61 days:

Day 75 and 66 for the Sour Crinkle gals. Both putting on the weight. #1 is maturing nicely and showing the advantage of being 9 days older. But I still think that #2 has larger leaves and larger bud clusters.

Its now day 82 for S. Crinkle #1, and day 73 for #2. Both doing just fine. Putting out some fine perfume and starting to cloud up some of the trichomes. I'll give them a few more days on the Prescription Blend flower mix (to which today I added some Advanced Nutrients Overdrive). Then they'll get taken off the feed and given several days of Advanced Nutrients Final Phase. These gals are going to be lovely additions to the medicine cabinet. :smoking:

Its harvest time, but before the final showing of each plant, lets take a last side-by-side look at the two together. Day 90 for Sour Crinkle #1 and day 81 for the younger Crinkle #2. #1 stands at 12" (30.48 cm) and #1 is just a tiny bit shorter at 11.5" (29.21 cm), both the same width. So pretty identical in growth under the CobShop cobs. Each had its own 3500K light and they shared a higher-mounter 2700k light. They were grown in 3-Gallon AutoPots with Air Domes, in a 60/40 medium mix of Coco/Hydroton. The nutrient program was a consistent and standard application of @Prescription Blend - which never clogs my AutoPot lines. In the initial 2/3 of the grow, Optic Foliar's Overgrown spray was applied approximately once every 3 days. Other days the foliar spray was RO water with a bit of Prescription Blend's Kelp. About once a month the plants were top-fed a liter of ReCharge with SLF-100. And in the last week they were treated with Advanced Nutrient's Final Phase flushing solution.

The only notable difference is that plant #2 had larger leaves and larger bud formations, but a bit less of them than plant #1. I expect the yields to be about the same. Here they are from a few different angles:

Previous post featured both Sour Crinkles in a side-by-side comparison. Now, here's a closer look at #1, harvested at day 90. Lovely buds, easy trim, sweet aroma. Thanks @stan_mephisto for the opportunity to grow this fine petite plant.

A few days later we harvested the 2nd gal. Half an inch shorter, but slightly larger buds and a slightly faster finish. She was cut on her day 84. Again, my appreciation goes out to the fine geneticists at Mephisto; thanks @stan_mephisto.

After wet trim followed by several days of paper-bag drying, we got dry, dense bud yields of:

#1: 1.10 oz (31.0 gr)
#2: 1.22 oz (34.6 gr)

Everyone's curing now in their Ball Mason jars with 62% RH Boveda packs.
Quantity is a bit disappointing, but I fully expect the quality to be spot on.
