Mephisto Genetics Mephisto Genetics in 2x2x4 under LED

I've used only MC with other plants and as long as pH is in check, it can work very well by itself i think... but buds do turn out too leafy for my taste. So I'm trying to change that this time around and it seems adding the CalMag and Bud Explosion is necesary for this.
But I've haven't been able to feel comfortable using CalMag since i've noticed my Cal or Mag problems were mostly due to pH... but other growers use it so freely and at a much higher dosage that i decided to give it a chance and well I'm following Mañ'O'Green's advice to use it at max 50 ppms / 0.1 EC so I think it will turn out well.
:pass:
You can not grow wrong following the Green path. Just keep your eyes open and heart open so you will hear the ladies when they try to tell you anything.

Bro I don't know how I haven't seen your thread your doing a great job with your small space also what strain are you running

Thanks! It's a freebie... "24 carat x 3 bears og"... my first Mephisto run and quite happy so far. I wanted to have my next few runs with something small and fast to be able to maybe fit/start another plant in there soon or at the same time... and this freebie seems to be living up to my expectations! And her sweet aromas are starting to fill up my home! Very excited with her!
Still haven't been able to decide what else to put in there though to get into the Wellie challenge... it'll be either White Chem or Deez Nugs for sure since my other Mephisto seeds seem to be bigger/longer strains and i want to focus on smaller plants for a while to be able to have not just one variety per run and have a wider choice of things to try.

thanks for the reply bro and i think you have 2 good choices there I've grown a white chem once but i can't remember in what size pot I've also found indica strains prefer smaller pots also i cant wait to see your welly

Oh i've got several stinky old wellies ready to be chosen as well... can't wait to see how everyones wellies turn out!

UPDATE

This little sweet shurb turns 53 days old today. Smelling really sweet... of the fruity kind.

Since Tuesday her nutes have been at about 1.3 EC / 650 ppm ( 67-70 tap + 500 Mega Crop v1 + 50 CalMag Pro+ 30 BudExplosion v1), 6.0-6.3 pH.

Overall she seems hungry or just not the right color for me, but not sure if it's bad since she keeps filling up... slowly but doing it and frosting up too. Bottom leaves keep yellowing and dying after i increased MC from 400 to 500 ppms, and some top leaves are staring to gain some purple/pink tones.. not sure if deficiency or genetics or just senescence or what.
I am a little tempted to increase nutes a bit... not sure which part though. @Mañ'O'Green ... what would you recommend? Increase MC to 550 or increase another part or leave as is?

Here are some pics form today

I think your plant is going to end up fine. I have had very similar issue using megacrop and mephisto beans. 2/2 so far where they seem to die from the bottom up about halfway through flowering. The end product turned out fine in both cases for me. That being said I'm guessing the yield might be bigger if this problem was sorted out. By the time my plant reaches 75-80 days a lot of the fan leaves have completely died. Starts with yellowing (mostly from bottom) and works its way up. It could be partly the genetics? In your case I think your feed is still too low. I'm no expert on coco but 600ppm seems low for middle of flower. I know everyone says autos don't need much feed. So it could be some kind of lockout, that you are giving it enough feed but it's not able to take it all in.

In my case I thought it might be calmag, since I don't use any. But I use some pretty hard tap water. I also thought it could be too low of feed. Lastly I am dubious of megacrop 1 part. In the fertilizer there are different sizes and with a small dose it's hard to know if I'm getting a good ratio of the ingredients. I also notice it doesn't dissolve that easily. I am using just megacrop and sweet candy.

Curious what others think of this issue. Like I said I think your end result will be fine, but perhaps we both could do better.

Hey thanks for stopping by!
Yeah, I think my problem is due to not enough nutes (and also a bit high pH maybe causing problems with P intake) . I was used to feeding much lower than recommender but mostly because i used to have my plants under less light per day (almost half of what using now) and mostly did daily fed hempy's. I have been very stubborn this run where I'm using more light per day and Mañ'O'Green had already advised me to increase but I was too high and dumb to follow advice and kept her underfed too long.
Anyhow... many factors contribute to my current case i think... but mostly my fear of overfeeding and not properly following advice must be the cause of all this... ugh and I'm almost sure pH also has something to do as well. Before being more careful about pH as I am this run, I always got Mg def that extra CalMag, Epsom, or increasing nutes, wouldn't fix BUT after getting a better pH meter and being on top of pH I realized I was below 6.0 even when i thought i was above that (crappy yellow ph pens), so after I started using the new pH pen no more Mg def (making sure ph was always between 6.0-6.3) but that seems to have led now to symptoms of what seems to me to be P def which i neved had before and P is supposed to be better absorbed below 6.1. I'm now trying to stay between 6.0-6.2 and bumped up nutes. We'll see how she develops this week.
BTW, I prepare a very very concentrated mix of MC1 in a gallon and then take from that to prepare my gallon of nutes to fill up the reservoir tank each time, so I like to believe the ratio of nutes is as appropiate as I could manage.

UPDATE

Day 57 today. She keeps slowly filling and frosting up, and I've been increasing nutes to see if she gains back her green colors and stops yellowing. Some roots are starting to show up in the tray which is a first time for me in the Autopot and which I love since root rot is my main fear right now and that doesn't seem to be the case right now. (EDIT: i did get some root rot smell on the tray water a few weeks back and i thought i had tackled it because tray was odorless after using some bennies in the reservoir, but some hours after posting the update today i did a top watering to check runoff ppm and the runoff water stank a little :nono: ... i had not top watered her since turning on the system so maybe the bennies were helping but some of the bad stuff was still in the pots and needs to be flushed out... will be doing it ASAP )

On Saturday I bumped the feed to 1.4 EC / 700 ppm (70 tap, 560 mc, 40 cmp, 30 be), pH 6.09 (6.2-6.3 in trays), and today seeing her still yellowing and with no tip-burn I prepared new nutes and bumped them up just a bit more to 1.47 EC / 735 ppm ( 75 tap, 600 MC1, 30 cmp, 30 be), ph 5.98 (6.1-6.2 in trays). (EDIT: some hours after posting the update today i did a top watering -with the new nutes at 1.47 EC- to check runoff ppm and while the runoff water came 0.2 EC below input it did stink a little :nono: ... will be doing some further top watering to make sure no bad stuff remains in the pot and nutrient uptake is not upset by any rotting sutff)

Light is still working at 60 Watts and it's positioned 21 cm / 8.2 inches from the tallest top... providing there a DLI between 37-39. RH and temps still the same.
