Indoor Mephisto Genetics Deep Blue C, Fantasmo Express, Toof Decay, Promix HP, Advanced Nutrients, MH, HPS

Okay, time for my first fully dedicated autoflowering grow journal. I'm going to be popping 4 each of Mephisto Genetics - Deep Blue C, Fantasmo Express, and Toof Decay in the rooter plugs as of tomorrow. These girls will be going in 5gal air pots with Promix HP as the medium, and will be receiving the Advanced Nutrient line using tang's improved auto feeding schedule. My lighting will most likely stay the same as usual, 400w MH week 1, 600w weeks 2-3, 1000w weeks 4-5, and 1000w HPS weeks 6-finish. I will however be able to use the 18/6 lighting schedule throughout as these autos will be my first to get their own room, though I'm going to run 24/0 for the first 3 weeks as chamber 1 heats my bedroom.

So I'm seriously considering trying out some LED light for this grow. The room that these 12 will ultimately be finishing in has 3 1000w HPS lights in it. My question is what kind of LEDs and how many of them would I need to replace the 3 1000w HPS? From what I understand LED light is more efficient and a better spectrum for the girls, but what kind of LED lighting should I get to match the yield of a 1000w HPS? Price isn't really an issue, though I'm certainly not buying 12 HS1s, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Last thing and I'll finish this post. I only recently started using a soiless mix and was curious about pree-moistening the pots. I've always soaked the pot to run-off before adding the seedlings when using HF or OF, so I'm curios how moist the soil should be when my seeds go in? Seems like a silly think to worry about as I didn't pre-moisten the soil with my current fems and they are thriving, but I want to be meticulous this go round and do everything right. So the girls all popped sometime between yesterday morning and last night. I put them all in their pots this morning, so I will officially be calling this day 2 (I always like day 1 to be on a Monday). Just a wide shot of them all together for the first picture.

I prefer to use the soil straight from the bag and water a small amount in the center as it looks like you have done, starting around 0.25l. As they get bigger I gradually increase the amount of water each time until the pot finally gets fully soaked. From what I've seen seedlings prefer the soil to be slightly moist and not dry inbetween waterings.

@dirty budster thanks for the info, going to use Think's numbers from his HBSS journal. I'm going to stay dedicated to the daily watering this time. These are Think's volumes based off Tang's schedule:

Days 10 11 12 13 14 - 1ml Sensi Grow A, 1ml Sensi Grow B, 1ml voodoo juice, 1ml calmag 100ml - 250ml water


Days 15 16 17 18 19 - 1.2ml Sensi Grow A, 1.2ml Sensi Grow B, 1ml voodoo juice,
1ml Carboload, 1ml calmag. 250ml - 500ml water


Days 20 21 22 23 24 - 1.4ml Sensi Grow A, 1.4ml Sensi Grow B, 1ml Carboload,
1ml rhino skin, 1ml calmag. 500ml - 1 litre


Days 25 26 27 28 29 - 1.6ml Sensi Grow A, 1.6ml Sensi Grow B, 1ml Carboload

Day 30 - Flush medium of mineral build up by passing water through soil,I will use water straight from the tap no sitting out and I will put 40L through my 15L pots with the last 5L containing 5ml Sensi Bloom A, 5ml Sensi Bloom B 5ml voodoo juice . The medium will not need watering on day 31.


Day 32 33 34 - 1.8ml Sensi Bloom A, 1.8ml Sensi Bloom B, 1ml BigBud, 1ml voodoo juice,
1ml Carboload, 1ml Calmag. 1 litre


Day 35 36 37 38 39 - 2ml Sensi Bloom A, 2ml Sensi Bloom B, 1ml BigBud, 1ml voodoo juice, 1ml Carboload, 1ml Calmag. 1.5 litre

That looks pretty reasonable, you might have to adjust it according to your conditions. Lifting the pot is a pretty good way to judge, also checking how deep the soil is dry. I'm lazy so I water once every three days and early on as much as 6-7 days inbetween.

Week 1 in the books, DBC#2 started slowly due to a thin spot in her root, seems to have recovered and is growing now. DBC#4 has some rusty spots in her leaves, Fantasmo#3 has the same spots to a lesser degree. I upped the A&B to 1ml/ltr as I think .5ml/ltr is too small to ph the water. That was on day 5 and they all look happier today on day 8.

@dirty budster cal/mag is possible, but with the plants being so young ph is probably the culprit. If it's either issues the extra a&b should help as it will fix the pH and add some cal/mag. I'm not sure if I really need the extra cal/mag as I was under the impression that tang's schedule only had it to counter the deficiency caused by the led light. I will keep a close watch and give cal/mag if these girls show any need. Some close ups:
