Mephisto Genetics Mephisto EU Store Update

Hello mate, I understand your frustration,
We are still in Spain, however we downsized and moved out from our old farm, where we used to develop and produce every seed and strain.

For various reasons it became impossible to continue at the original farm. Mainly Logistics, security, safety, demand and some personal reasons as well.

We still do all strain development ourselves in Spain, however what we used to produce for sale that some years ago would have sustained sales for a year or more would now essentially be gone in a couple of weeks. So we switched production to a few farms in the US, where 75% of our sales come from.

So now strains are bred to F3-F4 here and when we’re happy with them they get sent to the US to be feminised and produced in a quantity that is sufficient to meet the current demand.

I don’t want to come across as it’s all about numbers but whereas it was once 3 lads on a small farm, we’ve now had to expand our team to 16 just to manage everything, in all locations. We’re still learning business as we go, but fundamentally it has to make sense, the risk, effort and reward.

The Eu situation is unfortunate, as it’s really hard: read, next to impossible to get seeds into Spain from the states in the quantity we would need to make it worthwhile even opening up shop.

We have been in talks with some large distributors in Europe (for many months now) to see if there was a way to legally import a large amount of seeds, but even those companies with legal teams on hand, and a myriad of customs agencies type contacts can’t find a way that will work right now.
Hell, if we can get seeds to Spain, I’d run the shop myself.

The only other alternative is to set up a big production facility in Europe, but with legalities for this not favorable in comparison to the US, this would be a sketchy and huge endeavor to undertake when we’re just getting our business back on track after a few rocky years.

So, just incase it appears that we don’t give a fuck, I can assure you that we do, however nothing is ever as easy as meets the eye.

Cheers.
Jesus that sounds like a nightmare. Hats off to you all for sticking to it. Lots of people would bow out.

This makes me sad.. and way frustrated.. I was waiting and waiting..
Ordering from distributors is not as much fun .. as the freebies was half the joy for me. But it still would be nice to have EU distributors..

I can also understand that from a business perspective US and Canada are way more worth the effort financially. Maybe Germany will fully legalize soon and can be home for distribution sometime.

Anyway thanks for the update!:headbang:

It’s not about where in Europe mate, we have plenty of people to run an EU store here in Spain, or out of Holland also would be possible.

The main issue is getting enough seeds from the States into the EU safely without losing them to customs.

From US to UK for example whatever trade/customs agreement they have means shipping is efficient, relatively fast and we have little to no issue in getting beans in. However with Brexit too, there’s now the added difficulty to pass seeds from the UK to the continent.

However the same can’t be said for US to Spain, every package we’ve sent, stealth even to try and dribble feed enough seeds to create a usable stock level, they get lost or snagged.
Hence us investigating a legal way to import a decent amount, insured with paperwork etc, but as I said it’s proving incredibly difficult to get that worked out.

We’ll keep investigating, and if there’s a solution, we’ll implement it.
Thanks.

Ahh ok, thanks for the explanation!
I will be rooting for you to solve this issue, as I really love those genetics.. Up till then I will just have to remain jealous of those Americans and Canadians, and now British to! :tang:

Yeah man! Thank you for being so open with us. :toke:
Brexit has done so much damage to the economy. :deadhorse:
I wish you (and your team) the very best and keep on doing what you love most :goodluck:
hopefully I get lucky in sourcing some of your strains in the near future.

:vibes:

Regards,

Bob

Yes mate thanks,
And I agree Brexit is not my idea of progression, totally the opposite. And on a personal level for Brits living in Spain has made a whole bunch of stuff extra inconvenient, and complicated.

But what’s done is done.

Hey tell me about it. I'm in Ireland and ordered the missis a naughty outfit from love honey at the beginning of October and still haven't got it yet. Its a horrible state of affairs.
