Tiny taps makes me think too much water perhaps. Only need the towel to be moist. Like you could wring it out and still use it type moist.

I've heard on a youtube channel that it's better to let the seeds soak in water for 18 hours MAX, PHed water at 5.8. With my 4 grows, I had 100% germination (20 plants).
I let them soak for 16 hours, then I put them between 2 paper plates in paper towels (the less expensive paper towel because other will let the root go through), watered with the same water used for soaking.

Let those plates in a hot, moist and dark place for at least 20 hours (it's up to you, I check every 15 hours).

Been at this hobby over 14 yrs....Most of the methods I've seen over the years have included far too much handling...and I've probably tried most.
Years ago, a chronic medical condition caused me to find the simplest way possible to germ and grow weed. Also getting baked always seemed to reduce how steady my hands could be handling such a precious and delicate sprout that we hope to be smoking in a few months.
My germ area includes:
Heat mat set at 80f.
Biobizz lite mix
DI water.
Just plant the seed bout 1/2" deep.
Popping through a bit of soil even pulls the helmet off.
I do cover the seed area to maintain humidity and the T5 is on 24/7.
I get 100% germ...no soaking, no touching after planting.
Here's a pic of 4 Meph seedlings, nch, gt, 4am, sn, and a photo.

Sometimes I germ in solo cups, sometimes germ in final pots 2-3 ltr.
IMHO....Germing is absolutely the easiest part of growing weed.

That looks very solid. I'll buy a heating mat and set up a germ area. I've been wanting to anyway. Thanks everyone I'll update if I get some poppage! Thank you for your patience and knowledge.

I have grown pretty much only meph seeds my whole career. Which is about 5 harvests now. The pop ratio i had was 84-92% popping about 150 at a time. The way i have done it was:
-Lightly roll each and every seed on emery board to scuff
-Soak in 5.8-6.2ph r/o water (cal mg added) in jars, per strain, 3/4 full of water then poke seeds down into water to make sure they got covered. Soak , for NO longer than 20 hrs . I put the lid on, into darkness, 78-85 degrees on avg.
-transfer to paper towel on labled paper plate and cover. Get wet with same water they soaked in.
-back into warm darkness 2 days and wait for minimal 1 inch tail before putting into soil. Keep wet for first week minimum

Lots of ways to do it, but best between 80 and 85F, and as others said, go very easy on the nutes. If you germ in final pot, you need to get it up to temp first, and keep it there until you get some leaf development. Temp is really important.
