Always could use your fan to make air changes. I have mine hooked up to outside air and a titan controller. So if it gets too hot it pulls in cold air from outside. Wintertime is perfect. It's summer things get a little wonkyI've been watching my tent temps, and they're between 84-90 degrees consistently with two lights on. I'm afraid of what's going to happen with a third light. Could I lower my temps with a larger exhaust fan? The room my tent is in stays at roughly 60-70 degrees depending on the time of day.
At my house smell is not a concern so I use positive pressure in my tents (more space) rather then negative pressure with a carbon filter for smell inside the tent. But if you have a passive 4"duct from your tent out your window . Then the negative pressure caused by expelling air from your from your tent will force cold outside air Into the tent . 1 in 1 out.Summer isn't so bad for me. I run an a/c unit in my grow room to control temps. I don't vent back into the house either. I suck all of my exhaust out of a fake a/c window vent upstairs.
I have two passive intakes on my tent now sucking in fresh cooler air from the room all the time. Smell isn't an issue in my house either, it's just outside of the house is where I worry. People have greedy eyes where I live. My only concern if I'm sucking in cold air from outside, if it gets too cold I'd have to run everything 24/7, and how I have it setup now I have filters on my intakes. I keep my environment very clean. GUH.. Decisions. A lot of people recommend running LEDs around 85 degrees, I just worry about when I dip into the 90s. I've seen successful grows like that before, but I prefer not to deal with that. Things would be much easier if I moved the tent to the basement. At my house smell is not a concern so I use positive pressure in my tents (more space) rather then negative pressure with a carbon filter for smell inside the tent. I think I'm going to my lower tent flaps and see if I can get more cool air coming through from the base for now. I would say my grow room is in the 60s most of the time, so I may be able to battle it without changing too much.My set up is in a basement as well. Ambient air Temps in the basement stay nice and cool most of the time. And yea you'd either run them all the time or need a temp/humidity controller. I just like to take advantage of the free cool air when I can.
