Indoor Maybe I was expecting too much... anyway, onward and forward!

I would just spend the $50 and get an RO filter and then your water won’t be an issue. I use RO water and I don’t even ph the water anymore.
thinking about that as the next step after aerating the standing water and seeing if it makes any difference, I really want to find the issue, so its a step by step process.

I'm with @MedCzech and @throxic, get an RO system to sort your water out and a decent PH/EC pen, this will definitely put you on the right track.
So, you think its a ph issue?
or too much chlorine?

the thing about my water is that I drink it... OOOpsie!
waternet tell me its excellent drinking water, Amsterdam is reputed to have good drinking water, which one would expect is also good for plants right?

Which is why I am finding this all a bit confusing.

anyways... onward and forward.

Not even ph/chlorine just chemicals in general, for $45 you can have guaranteed clean water, which is good for drinking and humidifiers, irons, steamers etc. Buy a decent bag of shop soil and you're good to go. Use the EC pen to check the ppm/ec etc so you know exactly what your plants are getting ;)

Chlorine will take 24-48hrs to gas off just needs to be aerated but if you have chloramines in your water they have to be treated. I believe it's vitamin c will treat chloramines

Save yourself the worry and time lost. Even if you off gas it, it could still have other chemicals.
Get a filter for your sink too if you drink the stuff. Trust me in this one. It’s worth the money.

Thanks, for the links, I do know about a little about water and air filters, I sold them 25yrs ago.... never thought i would need to buy one for myself though... things change I guess. Thank MedCzech.

yes it is indeed, I will add that to the list of things to work with to find out the issue, Thanks lil dab.

yup I understand this and how water filters work, All part of the forward motion, just want to find the culprit first.

I am on my 4th set of "decent bag soils" Apart from the soil with the added nutrient pellets i believe I have cancelled that out as a cause.
looks like spending more money on man toys is where I am going, which really just takes all the fun away from my grows ;-( Cos i am a cheap skate... :baked:thanks DOA.

busy bloody morning so far...
coffee, social media, exercise, shopping, chat with a buddy about local water, no problems on his side, but he has not had all his water supply ground pipes changed over the past 3 months as we have... could that make a difference...maybe??? anyway I compared my cheap ph pen readings with his Apera pen, ( i never borrow another mans tools) surprised at the outcome of -0.03 difference across the board, distilled, tap, ph 4.01 ph 6.88 tests, not gonna worry about ph readings with a cheap pen at all now. I can always get an apera if...

anyhooo... I added ascetic acid to the aerated water and brought it down to 6.03, soaked a pot to run off, run off was 7.45, seems a bit high,
as this is a new grow I have not added any nutes, bags did seem light, so gave them all a good soak with the 6.03.

waited for an hour or so, then mixed up some 7.01 neutral, ran a couple of liters through a bag, tested the run off @ 6.99 ... As the bags are now somewhat soaked i will give them a few days and then run some 6.5 or lower see if I can get the run off down to 6.3-6.5 and see if it makes a difference.

Step by step.... find the issue for future reference.

Ok, this will be my last post here…get a dang RO filter and stop this madness bro. Stop testing for this and worrying about that. Get the filter, and forget ph, forget about chemicals, no more testing runoff(never need to do that unless your running DWC), just get the lousy filter and you can end this madness. Not what you think you will accomplish. Save yourself the headaches.
Sorry to be so blunt, but it seems mad to do all you are doing when it’s all solved with a $50 filter. I also have water issues, but don’t give a rats ass what it is, cause I solved it with a filter.
Good luck. 👍

I’ll have to look around I have missed part of the conversation but what soil and nutes have you used?
