I feel you need more then that tiny slice of a spectrum leds can produce. Remember, UVR has a range somewhere from 100-400nm. The range led's can produce sits between 365-370nm, excluding some high end leds and these have the disadvantage of a very short lifespan.
You're better of buying one or two (depending on the size of your tent) of those reptile terrarium lights. It's old tech, but these produce a spectrum more in the neighborhood of what you find in let's say a greenhouse.

I have two of those, but never have really utilized them................ At least not consistently. With the wide range that they produce, I think you need to be a little bit more cautious with the use than the available leds. That was the biggest thing that deterred me from using them.

I need to figure out a schedule for this particular style of light. I don't think I will be doing it with this upcoming grow, just to keep variables down for this first test run with the deep red in my 2X4 tent. I have UV covered and need to further refine that particular unit use in the 4x4 tent.
On this upcoming run, my new Gorilla 3x3 tent will be a clone and mom tent and probably seed production. That tent will get my two small lights, the Mars Hydro TS 1000 and the HLG 200 Rspec................ Although they will not be used together on this first run in the tent. Due to the spectrum of the Mars with a little less red, I'll be using that one as the mom light.
I think the combination of the two main lights should be interesting and they should complement each other quite well . I think I should be able to fit the fluorescent style uv light fixture in between the two lights, whenever I make that a flower production tent. That may only occur whenever my next auto run comes up. It kind of just depends on what photos I grow out in the run after the next one. I plan to use the Gorilla 3x3 tent Two lake seeds of Asian Haze Fem and Crockett's Tangie Reg.

Oh, I'm convinced they helped in producing more trichomes on that crop and will be using them in the next one. Give 'm a try, but do find a way to use them when you're not likely to go to the tent, like the middle of the night when you're asleep... I started with 4 times a day for 15 minutes and build that up to 1 hour each time. It's important to give the plants time to get used to that amount of UVB and build up their defense. ie, trichomes.
I started with the treatment a week before flower kicked in. This sounded right to me...

So, you don't recommend additional UV for veg and seedlings?

For Seedlings I think adding UV can be detrimental. For Vegging the plant I would start near the end and the beginning of flower I would start with 4 times a day 15minutes assuming you're running your lights 24/7 on and build up to one hour, 4 times a day. If you are running photo's and do a 18/6 on/off, I would do it three times a day.
But again, the power these kind of leds emit is negligible compared to a fluorescent bulb used in a reptile terrarium. For a small tent 60x60 / 2'x2' I would recommend a maximum of 30Watts. There are LED counterparts, but these cost about three times as much and still have a short lifespan, because of the radiation they emit. And please be CAREFUL when using these kind of lights. Time the on period when you're not likely to go inside the tent!

How do you use the the IR light?

Does it go on the same light cycle as the main light?
Or does it go on a shorter cycle?
@NORBY (IR): 30 minutes a day. Turn on the infrared 15 minutes before the main light is turned on and 15 minutes after the main light is turned off. :lildab:

Dear @Marshydro,

Don't get me wrong. I'm not disgruntled because the negotiations broke off. I'm even not disgruntled about the fact it took almost two months of conversation just to find out your boss was offering an even cheaper light in exchange for a 4 year contract...
What I AM angry about it the fact that you pointed me towards MarsHydro.eu for ordering the light I DO need, stating I shouldn't forget about the discount code 'AFN', only to find out there's another better code to be used 'MHEU5' which give people an even better discount. The members here deserve at least the same discount a new customer would get when buying on your site. People here show your products, and that's free advertising for MarsHydro! The AFN code barely covers the shippingcost.

When ordering the light I do need, there wasn't anything that showed the light was out of stock or on backorder and therefor went for it. Only when contacting you after a couple of days not hearing anything from MarsHydro I find out there wasn't any stock and I had to wait another two to three weeks before my order would arrive. I see now, that the webpage has been changed and the product is 'available on backorder'. That at least is a positive note and I'm going to leave it at that.

I'm not going to put anymore energy into this as I'm tired about this subject and will wait for my order to arrive. I will confirm the date it does arrive (via mail) and will expect the warranty to go in at that date and not the purchase date.

With kind regards,

Bob :toke:
Sorry, not all discount codes appear in AFN, so my suggestion is to ask customer service if there is a better discount code before paying. If so, use it instead of "AFN".

How long will it take me to harvest? πŸ€”
