Making seeds for home growers with limited space

I have a bunch of reg seeds coming from the autoflower portal and I will definately want to make some seeds to start being a little self sufficient..

Seeing as in autos are autos and you cant clone or keep them in veg how would I go about making seeds?

Can I just pop a pack of seeds cull the weak as I go and let the strong males and females mingle to make seeds? When do Male autos produce pollen? Will it be too late to pollinate the females if they were all germinated and grew together? Seeds need 6+ weeks to mature dont they?

Or will I have to do a run just for males and collect pollen and then do another run for females to pollinate?

Either way I would plan on keeping any unused pollen for future projects but being autos can I germinate and grow a Male and a female together and get mature seeds or are male autos too slow to produce pollen and female autos too fast to have mature seeds for that?

You can tell I've never chucked any pollen eh? Lol

That ... The boys are a few days faster than the girls .. so once the ladies get their undies off,, Mr. stud has had a hard on for a few days and is eager to perform..

But unless you really want many many seeds, it's best to remove mr.stud and just pollinate a single branch using a brush

Yea lots of goodies! As far as the selection part of the process goes I believe stone dragon is the strain furthest along at f5 in my purchase and the rest are mostly f1s I think, is it better to have a f5 male pollinate f1 females or f1s pollinating f1s...... ?

I figured I would probably grow out the stone dragon for pollen and buds because theres enough time left in August-October to put some plants outside when I need to separate the boys from the girls and then I would have a good stock of f5 pollen to pollinate a branch here or there on all the f1 strains when I want.

I know it will limit me to 1 pollen donating strain but I can do more next summer when I can work outside again.

Sorry for all the questions, the goldstone is a semi auto 75%.. you said you know that strain, if I pollinate a automatic pheno with the f5 pollen would it result in fully auto or at least more than 75%?

Edit... I'm too stoned lol, I mixed the gold stone with the gold walker.. i didnt get gold stone no semi auto for me.. been reading the descriptions again lol just the wrong one

That all depends on what you are trying to achive with the pollination ..

The Stone dragons are REALLY good med plants, but not the biggest growing and are very uniform at f5

the f1's will give a lot more variation .. for instance the Goldwalker f1 have pheno's all the way from green to dark purple ... hint hint.. the greens are my fav and was choosen to breed f2 with

Stone Dragon was my male of choice when making most of my Mephisto crosses. Those crosses will now be BX into their Mephisto parents to eventually have true running Mephisto regs so I can have Blue Tooth and Purple nuggets forever.

I've found pollinating a single bud to be more than adequate for my needs. Generally I pull the males out of the cabinet once they sex and sick them under a cheap blurple light until it's sexy time. I'm only interested in their DNA, not their size or health.

I use a little makeup brush to pollinate the lower bud carefully. Then about 2 hours later I mist the bud site with water to kill remaining pollen. I'll repeat this a few days later on the same bud to ensure dense pollination of the whole bud.

One lower bud generally gives between 25-100 seeds. Dry them well for a week then seal them up in a moisture proof container and refrigerate for at least a month or two.

is there a preferred container size for finding the plant you want to breed? Jw for a small grow if you can use solo cups or 1 gallons to plant 10 or so more with solo cups to select one or 2 females with best growth to breed in a 2x2 to pollinate.

When I'm doing a seed run I'll generally put the known fems in 2.2 gallon autopots just like a regular grow and I'll start 3-6 regs in 1 quart garden pots from Lowe's that I get pepper plants in. The males will live their entire short lives in the quarts. Female regs that I'm interested in keeping (always keep stone dragons!) I'll generally transplant up to a bigger pot.
