I decided to start fresh with my soil, so fo black friday, I took advantage of the sales at build a soil. 2 c.f. of the Malibu mix and a 15 gal fabric bed.. The plan is to do one, maybe two no til auto grows so that all 15 gallons are ready to go by this summer when it will be time to start vegging photo period plants.

I germed three sour stomper seeds.. All three have tap roots.. I will fill the bed tonight and plant the cover crop. Then in a few days add the sour stompers.

This will be a water only grow. Im adding 1 tsp per gallon of soil of bokashi... I'm thinking about adding a hand full of worms, but that's about the extent it of it. I may ph the water every now and then as well.. But maybe not, lol.

I feel like the last year or so of learning from no til growers is ready to pay off. I'm ready to test myself with these next two grows, and hopefully pass, lol.

I'll start the seedling off in solo cups, or cups of some sort to give the cover crop time to take shape. Here goes nothing!!

Welp... The cover crop is staring to sprout.. I added about 100 worms, did a top dress of several meals.. Cedar mulch.. Watered the soil with recharge and aloe water... I think I will give the soil/worms another week to settle in, then transplant the seedlings.. Im feeling good about everything so far!

10 days later... Sooo.. Two of the Sour Stompers didn't like the transplant process... One didn't make it, and the other ate thru it's cotyledon leaves to stay alive.. But she's still kicking. I decided to pop a few seeds of a cross I made back in Feb, using pollen the Chemdogging x Tyrone Stomper auto regs I got from daz a ways back.. I crossed it to sweet seeds black cream auto. I have two seedling above ground and in the soil bed. Hopefully both of them aren't males. I also added one 3BOG just because I love that strain and haven't grown it in a while.

So as of right now, that's 5 seedlings in a 15 gal bed. With the possibility of losing one or two to being male.

looking real good - just wait til the cover crop grows, makes the whole planting look like a houseplant arrangement - good start. What kind of worms did you add?

Thanks bro! The cover crop is starting to fill in a bit more. I added 100 or so red wigglers. The plan is to have double or triple that by harvest.

Red wrigglers, top feeders, that’s what I use - did have some African Nighcrawlers but they have decreased in population, seems the reds do best ..... Wondering if the cedar will keep unwanted pests away, I do know it has an oil they don’t like? You will need the weed hacker soon with your cover crop!

Good luc - nice start!

Indeed it does.. Cedar is a natural pest repellant... They hate that smell, lol. It's also considered a living mulch because it leaks organic matter and certain macro/micro nutrients into the soil. And yeah, I already need a weed wacker, lol! Don't mind the droop.. They just woke up.. and then got a bokashi bath..

The bed....

Cedar is what I get by the truckload for my property - it does seem to best pretty pest free - also if the oil gets on the pest and prevents them from breeding so besides repels it can kill as well .....

Garden is taking hold - you’ll see some beautiful looking pots with the cover crop - love the look, almost houseplant like - here’s a couple of my LOS with cover crop - hope you don’t mind me posting here?
