So essentially it makes the smoke smoother?

It's hard to describe, but a traditional straight water pipe has kind of a "pop pop pop pop pop pop" type feel to it as the air/smoke bubbles come out the downstem. By comparison, the more diffused glass pipes like the honeycomb are more of a smooth, straight pull feeling to the drag on them. But really the main idea is that by using a lot of little holes, it creates a lot of little bubbles which increases the surface area contact between the smoke and the water. This helps to provide more cooling to the smoke as well as if you're using the water to help filter particulate matter it catches more of that. The flip side of this is that some dab folk recommend avoiding too much diffusion in a good oil rig for the same reason. Basically since you're using a concentrate to start with, the particulate that you're hoping to filter out has already been processed out so you want as simple a water pipe as possible. It all comes down to what you like and works for you, though. For me it's a lot about the art as well. If I had the $$ and a really nice bar space in the house to setup I'd love to stock it with herbal instead of alcoholic products as well as your average head shops variety of pipes just to sit and stare at all the glass for hours each night (while trying each one out with a little home grown, of course).

Woo hoo!!! I got my digital scope today and finally figured out how to use it ... well sort of! :smoking:

This is a lower bud of Original Sensible Auto Purple that I harvested this past Saturday. Looks like I may have let it go a little too long!

A quick check of the veggie garden last night showed all is well. They transplanted from their store containers and are doing nicely. I hear you @Mossy, I'll take plenty of pictures, and I will be sure to save seeds as well. I am looking to use my canna skills to get some clones off the San Marzanos!
