Yeah my daughter was up at 6 this morning. She found all the eggs by 730 and consumed 1lb of chocolate by 9. I'm a bad parent but chocolate for breakfast once a year what the hell

Happy Easter guys! I hope you all have a great day. I'll be spending the day with lots of family and food. Starting with biscuits and gravy.

So maybe I'm weird, but I always notice people feet in the pics they post of their plants. Usually its just work boots or the occasional slippers or socks. But I think its time people around here stepped up their game and gave me more interesting footwear in their pics!! How about a fancy feet contest?

thanks for the view of your setup, and I like the decomp pots

After 11 years MIA they're back.. The Brothers Grimm here is a little bit of info...

Brothers Grimm Seeds was founded in 1996, when arrangements were made though Canadian seed reseller Heaven’s Stairway to distribute cannabis strains created by MrSoul and partner Sly. Known for selectively backcrossing, cubing and inbreeding some of the rarest of cannabis genetics on earth, Brothers Grimm became known for uncompromising quality & for producing genetic stability, high potency, short flowering times, heavy resin production, and intensely tropical terpenes. In 2002, the company abruptly closed due to security concerns. For many years after our seeds were no longer available, growers either jealously guarded their favorite clone mothers or shared them with their friends to keep them alive. Some breeders famously used our Cinderella & Apollo to create new hybrids as well as breeding filial generations as far out as F5.

MrSoul waited more than a decade to retrieve the precious clones and seeds he’d stashed safely away. In 2015, he met Duke Diamond and together they developed a concrete plan to resurrect Brothers Grimm in Colorado. The combination of these two breeders’ abilities, along with a deep reservoir of unique cannabis cultivars, is the foundation of our company.

It’s been a long time coming, and lot of work, but we’re overjoyed to be back. Our faithful followers can be assured that our tradition of stability and reliability continues with the re-release of our Cinderella and Apollo lines as well as strains developed in our new breeding programs. Selectively combining cultivars, according to strict genetic principles, we provide the finest cannabis genetics available.

Breeding Philosophy

Brothers Grimm are famous for creating high THC strains that produce consistently outstanding results. The creation of Cinderella 99, through a multi-generation breeding program, distinguished us long ago as breeders who take the time to do things right.

After a dozen years on the sidelines, we can’t help but observe that today’s seed market is flooded with poly-hybrid crosses, seemingly created with no logical, deliberate goal or breeding plan. Such seeds produce plants of many different phenotypes – like lottery numbers.

By contrast, Brothers Grimm only cross a male and female after having thought of all the reasons WHY we want to do so. We design our seed lines to produce consistent plants that all share the qualities we selected for in the breeding program that created it.

We are able to take this approach because our breeding stock is a rare collection of landrace and other stable cultivars, each representing unique genetics. Using this gene pool, we painstakingly choose and combine males and females in a deliberate program to create hybrid seeds which produce plants consistently displaying the desired characteristics. There’s very little variation; our clients don’t have to hunt through several different phenotypes hoping to find a good one.

So which characteristics do we select for, when breeding our hybrids? The goal in each breeding program will vary somewhat of course, but the general list of traits we are known for include:

  • Compact overall plant structure
  • Dense budding
  • Fast-flowering
  • No hermaphroditism
  • High resin production
  • Intense psychoactivity
  • Unique palette of terpenes
  • Optimal yield
Their stance on feminized seed:

Brothers Grimm are proud that our seeds never produce hermaphrodites. It has been documented, in scientific literature, that the creation of feminized seeds always results in a percentage of hermaphrodite offspring. This validates what we’ve always believed… and why we have never made feminized seeds. Besides, competent growers can tell the sex of their seedlings before they are flowered anyway!

Mr.Soul - Breder and Founder

Bio:
While studying Nuclear Engineering at a college in Upstate NY, I also learned to grow marijuana in a spare room of my apartment. I read everything about growing marijuana I could get my hands on, but I was especially interested by Robert C. Clark’s “Marijuana Botany”. I sent a letter to the owner of the Super Sativa Seed Club in Amsterdam and after weeks of discussing breeding and genetics, they offered me a job. I became their USA seed distributor to their American customers in 1987.

This opportunity provided me access to genetics and information that allowed me to rapidly advance my cannabis cultivation and breeding expertise in my own grow spaces. I used my engineering skills to design hydroponic systems and climate control systems for my growing operations. I organized the garden work flow; scheduling and performing all phases of cannabis production; seedlings, mother plants, clones, flowering, harvest, manicuring, drying/curing and seed storage.

These projects became increasingly larger and cultivation was soon my full-time occupation. I became known as "MrSoul" to the online cannabis community, where I shared growing and breeding information. I was reliably producing 1 pound per kW and delivering 2 pounds of high-grade MJ per month, when I founded The Brothers Grimm Seed Co. in 1996.

My breeding projects produced strains of marijuana that are now world-famous, such as Cinderella 99 (C99) and Apollo 13. These MJ strains were featured in High Times magazine articles among the top 10 most favored varieties of all time and have also been used by other breeders to create numerous award-winning hybrids.

I left the business abruptly in 2002. I moved to Belgium looking for a legal way to run the company… however the right combination of people, location and timing never fell into place. So I preserved the original seeds and breeding stock until conditions finally improved in 2015. I’m proud of the new Brothers Grimm facilities and excited to see everything on track for our initial release of about 10 strains in April 2016, including the classic Cinderella 99 and Apollo 13.

I look forward to personally meeting all the wonderful people who come to the Cannabis Cups and other events. Thank you for your appreciation of our work.

Duke Diamond - Breeder and Bringer of Fire since 94

Bio:
I grew up farming tomatoes and almost anything a person could grow. Growing things has always been a passion of mine, especially cannabis. Cannabis has always fascinated me with its immense diversity and the pioneers who began breeding programs to refine their specific variety's. I have always had the desire to continue the evolution of the plant and move cannabis genetics forward instead of settling for popular hybrids or simply to have something no one else had.

I began seriously growing and breeding cannabis in the mid-90s, paired with my copy of Robert Clarke's 'Marijuana Botany', and soon thereafter began working in the footsteps of my mentors Mr. Soul and Subcool. I was fortunate enough to have a endless wealth of knowledge passed to me from pioneers in the field and between that knowledge and my experience, I focused on doing work - cultivating, breeding and learning. Before meeting both Subcool and Soul on Overgrow all those years ago, I was growing classic varieties of Skunk, Hashplant, Northern Lights and Afghani in the woods of central and southern Virginia.

With the laws finally changing I am very pleased to say I am back to work full time to bring you all my true passion - our beloved plant cannabis. We have the momentum! Let's keep moving cannabis forward! Thank y'all for the support.

The Cinderella Story – as told by MrSoul:

In 1996, I discovered a few seeds in a bud of Jack Herer I bought @ “Sensi Smile” coffeeshop in Amsterdam while there to buy seeds. I didn’t expect much when I grew them, but one of those seeds from the JH bud produced a very special female that I call “Princess”. She had devastatingly psychoactive resin and stayed short, compact and had a heavenly aroma of tropical fruit and rotten meat.

The scent given off by Princess, was unusual in the late 90’s - not at all skunky - she’s sweet and fruity. Someone passing by the flowering room MIGHT not recognize the scent as pot and mistake it for tropical flowers. When you rub the resin you can definitely smell it. The high of Princess is also more “psychedelic” or “trippy” compared to the strains like Skunk #1 that were popular. I always advised friends to smoke a LITTLE, wait 10 minutes, then think about whether or not you need any more…it’s easy to over-indulge and become paranoid.

We can assume Princess’ mother was a Jack Herer not only because Sensi Smile printed it on the package, but also because I’ve smoked verified Jack Herer since then. So Princess’ father is a totally unidentified mystery plant – his pollen somehow got in Sensi’s growroom. Princess had two sisters join her from that same bud. I called them Genius & Café Girl. There were also 3 males from those seeds which regrettably, I didn’t preserve. Genius became the mother of the Brothers Grimm Apollo lines, while Café Girl gave us Rosetta Stone.

I wanted to create a strain that would allow me to share Princess with others, but I wanted this incredible “Holy Grail” of indoor clones available to the world in SEED form. I decided to use a technique called “cubing” (because there are 3 backcrosses involved) to create the seeds. (See the FAQ for an overview of how the cubing process works)

In the process of “cubing” Princess I wanted to add a little strength to her branches because the buds were always so heavy at harvest that the branches flopped over. To do that, I crossed a heavy-yielding, dense, resinous Sensi Shiva Skunk female with one of the males grown from same group of seeds that produced Princess (i.e., her brother). I then grew the resulting seeds to select a male to pollenate Princess to begin the cubing process. That select male was then crossed to Princess, creating “P.50” (using the shorthand notation I developed to indicate the fraction of Princess genes in the cross).

Each generation is the result of crossing a male from the previous generation to Princess herself.

Here’s a blow-by-blow description of the generations:

P.50 = Heavy, single-cola type plants with mellow high (too much influence from the Shiva Skunk) Sweet fruity scent/flavor. Unstable in most traits – for example, 10 days’ difference in fastest/slowest maturation period in a group of 20 seedlings.

P.75 = Princess floral cluster and bud structure, scent/flavor turned more “tropical” like pineapple. The stability was becoming better – two major phenotypes; short & dense (potent too) or tall/HUGE (less potent).

P.88 = Renamed Cinderella 88 when first released on the market. It grows fast and produces excellent yields of FROSTY buds in 7 weeks! Generally uniform seedlings with minor differences in floral formation and some height variance, but the smoke is quite consistent from all plants – Dense, heavy nuggets of fruity scented & flavored (like wild berries) and covered in resin glands, the dried buds have distinctly ORANGE pistils.

And finally P.94 = Cinderella 99. The name “Cinderella” was chosen because of the parallels between this story and the well-known fairy tale in which Cinderella becomes a Princess despite her humble beginning.

Each generation exhibited a MAJOR jump in potency: P.50 was rather mellow, P.75 has a well-balanced body/mind high with a citrus flavor, Cinderella 88 is cerebral and paralyzing with a tropical fruit flavor, and Cinderella 99 is of course renowned for the fruity flavor and speedy, scary high inherited from Princess.

Cinderella 99 yields are highly dependent on the methods used. Pruning style and number of plants/area make a BIG difference. Generally 1-2 lbs/kW depending on the grower’s style.

This project clearly became a huge success. The strain has been embraced by the cannabis growing community. The smokers gave rave reviews & the breeders elevated Cinderella 99 to cult status. It’s extremely gratifying to me, MrSoul that so many hybrids were created by breeders who recognized C99 as a stable parental stock from which to build or tweak another variety. It’s a big compliment to me as the breeder, and a huge testament to the enduring quality of Cinderella 99.
