Welllll lmao, I tried to place a bean order from EU and got my bank account locked for a day lolol. :face::crying: Whoopsies. We rly need a good solid seedbank stateside by now. In better news, got the new growspace kinda set up. Might make a lite journal.

Sooo... what really brought me here is this... I have some apollo9 timers that I thought would be quite handy but I came across a warning about not using them with digital ballasts. I was going to use them for my light which is powered by a meanwell driver. I believe the same issue exists in this situation.... something to do with the “in rush current” or some term close to that... lol. Apparently my driver spikes up to 35A when firing up and that I believe is the real issue. My question...? Is this correct? Does anyone have experience with this timer and led drivers??? Many thanks in advance

Amazing!!! Maybe I need to reconsider the airdromes! Lol!
only have an air dome on 3 of them. not a ton of difference yet

Hey @Anthropolis

These are a couple of USA seed banks although they don't carry all the european seed banks "DCseed exchange" sell Mephisto beans and have some in stock that are sold out in Europe.
Both DCseed Exchange & Pacific Seedbank have some unusual Autoflower from American Producers. Some of these strains look awesome and are totally off the radar as far as European grower are concerned maybe this post will change that.
Something that caught my eye was "Fruity Pebbles OG Autoflower" for Pacific Seedbank, now who doesn't want to grow that auto?
I have toyed with the idea of getting some FPOG autoflower but I have more seeds than I need right now and the postage from the states is a bit pricey for someone in the UK.
I checked out Pacific Seedbank on another forum where they have used them and they get a good review, I'll let you google that as I don'rt want to promote another forum.
Check out the links and see what you think

good to see you again zan!

Thought I’d add this... True North Seed Bank (in Canada) is having a 42%off promo for 420 with a handful of breeders being excluded. I’ve never used them but know many people on here have... I just ordered from them. They had something I really wanted. Never done photos before but I wanted a particular strain and just don’t have faith in any “auto versions” being quite like it... don’t think I would’ve pulled the trigger had it not been for the promo- $105 USD for 6 pk of feminized Green Crack from Cali Connection. With the overpriced shipping and taxes and discount applied it came out to $119 Cdn. A little easier to swallow!

Contactors are devices designed to deal with the "in rush current" when electrical device are turned on in order to stop the contacts in the timer fusing.
Traditionally they were used with HID set ups when high current would blow fuses/trip circuits and as mentioned fuse timers.
To get around this problem contactors were used to even out the current and have zero crossing contacts to stop fusing.
When LED lights first became popular, the units were quite small and didn't have too much of an "in rush current". Times have moved on and now we are seeing much higher powered units and those unit being use in multiple numbers.
Some LEDs are built with a soft start, which stops the large "in rush current" you would need to check with the manufacturer if this is the case.
So the issue of "in rush current" becomes an issue again.
In a relatively small set up using a contactor should be all you need!
For a 600W light a LUMII 24 Hour Heavy Duty Timer will sort you out, no need for a contactor, the timer costs £10 and no need for a contactor. Higher current will need a contactor. Really big loads will need a heftier solution will be needed. A combination of surge arresters and temporary overvoltage protection from the range of devices available to protect both the power circuit and the information or control circuit. Some devices are adapted for installation in a main low voltage board or in luminaire enclosures.
To fully protect the investment in your LED lighting systems, be sure your installation includes complete protection with zero-crossing contactors , surge protection devices, and voltage threshold tripping devices.
