Intuitively I feel that keeping them as lively as possible up until chop gives the best results. (That said, I do flush for a few days)Oh it absolutely does; that's literally one of the reasons we do both of those things in the dark.
The difference between pre-harvest darkness and post-harvest is that the plant is still very much alive pre-harvest.
Think about your body:
*Stressors such as lifting heavy things can make you stronger.
*Stressors such as food deprivation will NOT make you stronger.
Light being food for plants, keeping them in darkness is in effect starving them.
