Diesels are notorious for not starting in the cold. Got to have a block heater around these parts for them. That sounds like better not stand in some water when you jump anything. Youll be getting a jump too. Bed sounds like the better option. Hopefully my car will start in a couple hours. Suppose to get up to 10 above today. Glad this cold only lasted a couple days. Days like this I wish my plants where at my place perfect time to sit and watch and enjoy them. Call me crazy but I could stare at my plants like I would the tv. Growing never gets old. Sometimes I dont wanna do it but thats rare. Normally excited to see my ladys.When I was in the UK and we had the big diesel forklift it would always be flat if there was a frost.
The fitter would roll a trolley with 12 x 12 volt batteries on and jump start it...there would be crackles.. sparks and smoke.....but it always got it started.........I'd rather have stayed in bed though........
I spent a winter in Nova Scotia on an old fishing boat with a GM 2-71 diesel. In cold weather it would only start if you sprayed ether starting fluid in the air intake. Sometimes when it was time to go the spray can would be empty because a shipmate sprayed it in a paper bag and huffed it.
