I am not sure who the actual shipyard is, some employment group is running the advert,,,,I did notice its timing starting last week sorta coincides with the announcement about selling the Aussies LA class subs and a new US navy sub program in the pipeline.

Before I posted this, I edited this post at the end with a surprise. Something I didn't expect. I thought I'd leave it the way I had it written. I sure didn't expect what I found out before I posted this reply.

Hmmmmmm............I didn't see where they sold off some 688s. That's pretty interesting. I wonder which ones. I know a TON about 688s, especially the propulsion plant. That could be an interesting job, depending on where they base the subs.

I'm gonna have to look into both, if nothing, but for curiosity. I doubt if I'd get hired at my age for either, but nice to dream.

I never thought we'd ever sell a nuke boat of any kind. We've sold old diesel boats to Japan and other countries. The 688s have a lot of sensitive systems, with the power plant being just one. Next to the power plant, the sonar system would be very sensitive. I know of at least one major improvement/upgrade to the sonar system from when they left the yard.
Those are going to be very expensive to operate and repair. The support logistics are gonna be crazy AF!
With no nuke plants in Aussie Land, I'd assume they'd send their sailors to the US nuke power school.

I think it's a good move with the way China is playing games in the South China Sea.




edit.....................The are going to sell the Aussies NEW Virginia-class submarines! I really don't know what to think about that one.
