So I live in a state where weed is totally legal recreationally. Yet there is not a single legal place to buy anything without a medical card in the entire state. Anyone can possess 6oz with or without a medical card anytime but not allowed to actually buy a gram anywhere legally and we're the only state that doesn't allow homegrow, even with a medical card... There are a couple of mega huge companies the state allowed at first, and are allowed to grow and sell. Every grow op that's tried to start up has been stopped by some bullshit town hall meetings where the same 5 people show up and influence the rest of the people there. These are mostly farming communities that voted 2-1 to legalize but they reject every single grow op plan, whether it's 2000sqft in a greenhouse on a 1000 acre farm or 50000sqft of new construction. This is the result of big market cannabis controlling the market combined with a big company that has a nearby grow and won't install air filters. They say due to "equipment and labor shortages", which has been the excuse for like 7 or 8 years now, and really just scares off the residents intentionally. Since you can smell the weed flowering everywhere around the building when you just drive by it, it makes everybody in the area overly cautious about their neighborhood. My dream was to start a small grow and edible shop here. Supposedly I would qualify for every qualification the state wants to put me at the top of the list for applications, but there's no way in hell I can afford the years of legal bullshiting and fighting towns and permitting just to take a shot at a job I would actually enjoy. I love New Jersey, but fuck all the political bullshit and corruption that goes on here. Sorry for the rant...
