The biggest shark we have seen while diving was on the Great Barrier Reef at a place called Pixie Pinnacle. It is an awesome pinnacle about 180 feet to the bottom and the top about 25 feet deep. We were about 100 feet deep when off in the abyss we could see this little fish swimming leisurely toward the pinnacle. The viability was as good as it gets so the fish was way off to begin with. A few minutes later the dive master was signaling for everyone to end the dive and get on board with some urgency. He staged everyone on top of the pinnacle and was sending people to the boat ladder one at a time. This was unusual behavior. My wife and I were lingering by the edge and looking over when we saw the Great White about 100 feet down. It was fuckin' huge. We were happy to get out of the water. I don't think is was longer than the tiger in the Bahamas but it was twice the girth. It looked like a delivery van. We were told it is not safe to be in the water with it around :yoinks:

Sounds like a wise procedure.
Where was your favorite dive so far? I liked Belize for the healthy reef. I hope it still is. It's been a while.
Rubbed by a shark. That is good karma.
Thunderball?
For Cold water diving Point Lobos is very special along with Casino Point On Catalina Island. For warm water diving without a doubt Palau has the best diving in the world. They have everything from drift, deep, wrecks, coral, sponges, and Chandelier cave. Jelly Fish lake is an experience you will only find there. Tasik Ria in Sulawesi with access to Lumbah Straits muck diving is a close second. The sea life is so different in the strait. The problem is it takes 40 hours of travel to get there from here. That is grueling. We dive Cozumel every couple of years because it is so easy to get to and relatively inexpensive to dive there. Almost all drift diving makes for easy days. We like Scuba Club Cozumel. No phones , no TV, no rush, good food, suit up in your room and walk 50 yards to the boat. We also like Ambergris Caye in Belize. The finger reefs are just 10 minutes boat ride from the condos and you do your surface time back at the condo. The Blue Hole is maybe something you should do once or not. It is more fun to watch the divers get narced for the first time - maybe because you are narced :haha: I have pictures but most stuff is movies. Maybe later I will post some to YouTube and link them.

This sea turtle was from the Sulawesi side of Tasik Ria. She was huge and estimated to be 50 or more years old. That is Ms. MOG hovering over her. There was quite a bit of current and that is why the dive guide was anchoring her. I had my fin wedged in the reef to get this picture. I got in trouble for touching the reef when we got on board. They are serious about protecting the reef system. I am normally very eco minded but I wanted this shot.

I always wanted to dive the S. Pacific but the business never took me there and where I lived had great diving.
I brought one of those monster great whites up in the Gulf Stream on a teaser. It looked like a VW too.
:pass:

@Mañ'O'Green do you know what kind of turtle that is? I don't know if it's the color throwing me off or the perspective. The head seems a little too big for a green, The shell markings look like a Hawksbill, a big hawksbill, but the colors seem wrong, Maybe a Ridley?

Yes, She is a Green Sea Turtle.

At one point one of the bigger sharks had her full hip in it's mouth biting down on it. She had some petty good bruises. She was absolutely stoked as this was her first time to be the diver feeding the sharks.

Sharks are not that bad. You just need to be aware, which is what you do when diving anywhere.
I miss diving. I miss those tasty rock lobsters cooked over Kiawe wood. :eyebrows:
