Hi, i was wondering how do you guys deal with the soil being displaced in fabric pots when moving or lifting them?
More specifically, what to do when the fabric detaches from the soil edges? Is it a problem?

Another advice would be appreciated, i think i could've messed up so please let me know how should i proceed.
I just watered the Biobizz Light Mix soil in a 15 liter / 4 gallon fabric pot to keep it moist for 1-2 days for the microbes (as instructed by Biobizz)
The soil became compact and when i was lifting the pot by the handles, the complete fabric detached from the soil edge, there are gaps all around in a circle.
Then i was lightly punching and shaking the pot to disperse the soil and fill the gaps, added more soil on top, moved it around with my hand and watered more.
I kept doing that until the pot was completely filled, but that didn't stop the fabric from detaching, it's always detaching when i lift the pot.
Now the soil is too compact and wet lol.. I had a lot of runoff water much later, so i messed up the drainage.
Then i used a long fork and stabbed the f*ck out of the soil to break it down and shake it to make it airy again. I drained a lot of excess water (probably lost some starter nutrients) and the soil break apart in chunks now, sigh..
Eventually it settled down somehow with a lot of shaking, it seems ok now. Placed some fans around the pot to dry it out faster since it's too wet now.

But how will i lift the pot in the future if it keeps breaking apart? I can't do LST in a small tent, i have to take it out.. How do you guys do it, and is it a big problem if the soil is being displaced once the rootball is filled?
Thanks!

I think you will be fine but let me get you some soil guy advice @hope2grow @Sawney_bean as they may be able to reassure you

Hey m8..

More specifically, what to do when the fabric detaches from the soil edges? Is it a problem?

Happens all the time bro and never causes any issues in my experience.. i've used fabrics from 5L to 25L and it happens to them all.. it won't affect your roots.

I'm assuming that you dont have a plant or seed in it yet m8 so.. will you be planting your seed str8 in soil? In a starter cube? Paper towel germination method? Do you have nutrients? If so what? Are you in a tent inside?

As for the heavy pot.. dont worry about it.. no biggy.. just let it dry out a bit..

If you come back to me about the seed I'll waffle some more for ya

Thank you for the journal @Sawney_bean i will check it out :joy:

Thank you for the reply @hope2grow and it's good to hear that detaching is common.
You're correct, i still don't have a plant in it, just preparing the pot and soil.
I put a seed of +Speed Auto by Sweet Seeds in a glass of water, let it soak for few hours and now it's in a paper towel. Hopefully it germinates.
I was thinking of placing directly in soil to make it more simple for now, but perhaps i could do in a small cup first.
I have the complete line of nutrients by Biobizz and their Light Mix soil, in a 60x60 tent under a Migro Aray 2.
Also i used some Plant Magic Oldtimer Granules in the soil, do you think this was a good idea? And should i put some more in the potting hole?
The granules have Mycorrhizae, 20 strains of bacteria, some enzymes etc. will this mess up the pH of the soil which is buffered at 6.5? And should i use Biobizz Root Juice with it?
I also have some Living Organics by Green Buzz Liquids, also some bacteria and fungi that i got as a gift. Should i use that later or better not?

Don't worry about it. Happens every time with fabric pots. Don't even worry about evening it out since it'll settle anyway. You can add some to the top of the pot or mound around the base to give the plant some more support if it grows lanky. Pick them up as straight as possible to lessen but no worries. Also, start a journal and tag some folks and it'll be easier for people to help as you go since all your info will be in the same place :d5:
