One more season, hopefully a good one!!
Those that follow my journals know i deal with some insane conditions(the plants almost got hit by a f'ing tornado last year!!), but they also know i make the best of it!!!
In a favourable season, results can be absolutely astonishing.
This season is going to be an all out photo grow, growing some of the finest strains out there, and as always I am trying some new strains. All plants will be started indoors under lights(8 under 100X3w leds and 4 under three 4 foot T5 flouro's) in 7"X7"(1.5 gallon) pots, and will be planted in the ground June the 1st at the latest.
8 plants will be going in the full sun garden which all plants are dressed with a cup of lime and also 2 wheelbarrows worth of horse manure to fuel vegetative growth. Megacrop will be used for flowering as well as vegetative growth before they go in the ground. Plants will be exposed to cold weather and also to intense sun before they go outside. 4 of the full plants will be started on April the first, and the remaining 4 will be started on May the first.
4 Plants started on April the 1st
Dutch Passion Think fast (3rd time ive run....awesome strain)
Dutch Passion BlueBerry (5th time run......a reunion with an old friend..didn't grow last year)
Delicious Seeds Fruity Chronic Juice(Chronic X White Widow...4th time run....awesome)
Sweet Seeds Green Poison Fast F1 (running this one first time, but hoping for a nice early one to spread out the trimming load a bit, love the regular green poison i did last year!!)
4 Plants started on May the 1st
Dinafem Critical 2.0 (first time run...can't wait!!)
Delicious Seeds Eleven roses (brand spanking new and wow does it sound A-1 for outdoor)
Sweet Seeds Green Poison (run once, excellent toke!)
Sweet Seeds Cream Mandarin Fast F1 (hoping for a speedy one here...I wanted to try this as i loved the mandarin orange smell on the CM auto XL i grew out last season)
The second garden is limited sun and plants only get 8 hours of sun tapering down to less than 6 by harvest. Generally i grow unproven strains in this garden, to see how i like them. Conditions are far more sheltered, but daily dews can present a problem as this location gets zero direct sun until just after 12noon.
4 Plants started on April the 1st
Sweet Seeds Crystal Candy (mmmm sounds good!!)
Bomb Seeds Widowbomb (grew one last year...excellent potent rock hard buds from limited light, and proper floral widow smell with a hint of fruit, decent mold resistance in rock hard buds from limited light made me want a regrow on this one)
Dinafem Blue Widow (grew one last year in the most limited light part of the partial sun garden...really a nice smoke...decided to try this one again!! If she performs well i might upgrade new season to a full sun spot next year)
????????????????? - I haven't decided on this one yet....I am seriously considering the new Dutch Passion Bubba Island Kush(if it will finish in time) but i do have some other options...other than those listed above i also have
DP Durban POison
DP Lemon Zkittles (pretty sure it wont finish in time though)
Sweet Seeds Cream Caramel
Okay so lets talk about my first 60 days....first thing is first sprouting..simple...in the stealth cab(80F and 20%RH) i will put seeds in damp paper towel and put them in a ziploc bag. I only leave them in there for 14-40 hours, and as soon as i see a 1/8" tap root i plant in the 7" pots of promix. The day i put the seeds in paper towel i will fill the pots with promix HP and soak with water until 10-20% runoff. Before i put the seed in, I first pilot a hole with a stiff piece of wire to ensure there is not sticks or anything that could interfere with easy penetration of the tap root. The reason i use the paper towel is because i want to know the seed is viable, and anything after that is all on me!!!! I plant the seed 3/8" to a 1/2" deep and cover over with straight dirt(not perlite), so I know exactly where the seed is in case it needs some help getting breaking through the soils surface.
Usually 3 days after i plant, the seedlings emerge...because of the initial soaking of the medium, i don't have to do anything for another 2-3 days. Once the pot feels light(usually day 5-7) I will start feeding with a cup of nutrients(2 grams of megacrop per gallon i think is a great starting point) every other day for a week or so.
On day 14 i will start giving them a liter per feed at 2.5 grams per gallon and let it dry out in between. Day 21 i give them 1.5 liters(just enough for a trickle of runoff) and go through the wet dry cycle. By day 28 they are ready for 3 grams per gallon, and by this point i will be watching for sensitive feeders watching for excessive darkening of the foliage and also nitrogen toxicity clawing.
I will continue to feed at 3ml per liter unless the plants are telling me its too strong , or a heavy feeder shows its too light of a mix for her needs. This schedule will continue through to day 60 when they are planted in the ground.
All of the training methods I use and much more information about my techniques are detailed in the Monster Training Guide(link located in signature)
