Hello All,
I live in the tropics and have a homemade grow box. One of the biggest issues I have is heat. I was using 6 - 100W equiv. CFLs.
They had a deal on 60 W equiv. LED s at a local hardware store so I substituted 6 'warm' LEDs for 3 'warm' CFLs and kept 3 daylight CFLs running. I'm trying this setup on some WW autos. Their stature is ~12" but despite that the main cola is 3 fingers with approx. 4 weeks to go. As far as I can tell they are thriving.
I'm also trying my hand at feminizing some seed. The plant that I did the collloidal silver thing to gave a bit of pollen to which I applied, selectively, to a second girl. However, The colloidalized plant has somehow produced lots of seed. I'm wondering if they'll be mixed, feminized or hermies.
Update: What I thought are seeds (similar in appearance to millet seed) I now suspect are pollen pods. Holly cow! I snipped off the
branches. have them soaking in water in a secluded spot and hopefully pollen will abound.

Update: The grows are responding well to the LEDs except that it seems like an additional week needs to be added to the grow.
One tip I have for seed production is to do it in 2 steps. 1/2 the plant for pollen production(the other 1/2 is for consuming) and after 4 or 5 weeks start another plant for seeds. Have patience on the pollen producer so you have lots of viable pollen before harvesting the nodes. Wait a couple weeks after flowers appear on the 2nd plant before pollinating and then mist down the grow area sans the plants to neutralize the pollen. Cross fingers.
