Soil will arrive today, and should fill a 10G and a 7G fabric pot, with room left for future mulches and top dressings. This soil should be the best I have used to date, lots of inputs and already "cooked". Only things I will add is ground malted barley and some red wrigglers from the worm bin. Hoping to reuse this soil for many years. Costed $40 for the soil and $30 for shipping, effing worth it!

I have germed a Sour Alien Livers for the 10G, and a Purple Nuggets for the 7G. They reside in lil coco pots with seed starter, and I will simply place them in their final home once built.

Lighting will be a DIY 4 COB lamp, cree cobs with dimmable driver. I like to drive them at 40ish watts each.

Open bedroom grow space with filtered extraction, and a nice oscillating fan sweeping the room.

Would like to invite @KIS @MrOldBoy @Organic Sinse and anyone looking to start an organic living soil the easy way.

For sure brother ..... LOS is easier than hydro for sure .... I hooked up .....

Like the open bedroom idea .....

I may do a few just hanging around the house in a corner or two ...... treat them like House Plants - No worries in my case on smell and if I do need a plumber or electrician just move plants and run my commercial grade ironize machine .....

Thanks for stopping by bro, wish I could get away with that. I'd have COBs all over the house, lol. :crying: Plus the wife would freak, :naughtystep:

Some info on whats in the mix, and the many advantages. I did add some ground malted barley and worms from the bin. KiS sources only the best ingredients, everything I have bought from them has been premium. Excellent customer service as well.

KIS Organics Biochar Soil Mix is a revolutionary "water only" soil mix for all container and raised bed plants. Ingredients are comprised of organic and natural (minerals). No need to worry about burning your plants either, just plant and water until harvest. Get rid of all your bottled nutrients, and forget about confusing and expensive trips to the hydro shop or garden center. This soil mix has all the beneficial biology, nutrients, and minerals your plant needs to be happy and healthy for up to 6 months.

Ingredients:

Black Owl Biochar, Alaskan Spaghnum Peat Moss, Oly Mountain Fish Compost, Earthworm Castings, Volcanic Pumice, KIS Organics Microbe Catalyst, Gaia Green Canadian Glacial Rock Dust, Cascade Minerals Basalt, Calphos Soft Rock Phosphate, Pacific Pearl Oyster Shell Powder, Organic Alfalfa Meal, Organic Fish Bone Meal, Organic Crustacean Meal, Acadian Kelp Meal (ascophyllum nodosum), Ahimsa Organics Neem Cake, Ahimsa Organics Karanja Cake, Organic Fish Meal, Organic Feather Meal, Organic Steamed Bone Meal, Natural Calcite, Ag Lime, Mycorrhiza*, and Beneficial Microbes.

Advantages of our soil mix:

1. We use Black Owl Biochar at 8% of our total media. The biochar soil is then wetted with fish hydrolysate. To read more about biochar, visit www.biocharsupreme.com

2. We use lab and microscope tested compost and peat to ensure good biological activity.

3. We inoculate our soil mix with additional microorganisms to further increase microbial life and nutrient cycling.

4. No risk of burning your plant, just plant and go!

5. No need for further nutrients or fertilizer, saving you tons of money! That being said, I've posted an advanced nutrient schedule though on our blog (click here).

6. 100% natural and organic ingredients, no synthetic chemicals.

7. Can be re-used over and over again, with only small amendments between cycles. We have tested and re-amended the soil up to 5 years in indoor beds.

8. Can be used indoors or outdoors, though keep in mind that this soil is alive and there will be some insects and other small organisms in the soil. This is necessary to maintain a healthy soil food web and achieve proper nutrient cycling. You don’t want a sterile soil for organic gardening/growing!

9. Due to high shipping costs, we also offer our Nutrient Pack and also our Mineral Mix for making your own soil using local ingredients.

Here they are day 2, popped up June 19 in their starter pots, planted in final container next day. The box is to hold the shape of the 10G pot, till I find something better. Tends to want to buckle otherwise.

And we're off!!!:hothot:

I am so jealous you are already getting a start with your kis soil. Did you add any myco? I was told by tad to add some myco and do an inoculation on it before adding any seeds to the mix.

@Roasty McToasty - Look at you - Next batch will be dialed in ..... KIS is simply the BEST!

These are new pots, so round 1 on these. Got the seedlings off to a much better start than last run, and the effing gnats are gone finally.

No mykos yet, will be watering in some soon. Adding first would be better.

What did you use for the fungus gnats? I'm thinking about getting some karanja cake to mix in to my soil..I have like $500 worth of items that I need from kis before I even start but the idea is that I won't be buying much else soil/nutrition wise for years to come other than the odd amendment here or there.

Not much of a country fan, but I see what you mean. Yes very much learning as I go. Feeling like I got really lucky with my first LOS mix, everything was done Willy nilly. So this will be good to compare my mix with a true pro's mix.

OMFG these little effers were a bee ach to end. Top dressings with neem/karanja do work if you cook it in a mix for a few weeks before applying. But sf nematodes from a GOOD source finally ended the nightmare. Also I've found a plastic cover on top of the soil is huge, makes it much easier for your beneficial predator bugs to git em. Plus your worms can work the surface now that it's dark. I didn't know if my worms were alive till I did it.

Amazon product

Just buy the KiS nutrient pack and the mineral pack and that will cover the majority of what you need, unless your doing a very large setup. And some malted barley, neem cake and karanja, that should be the meat of what's needed. They might already be in the nutrient mix.
