I do remember the 80's but I wasn't quite smoking bud yet. I didn't start smoking bud until 94 when I was 12
. I do actually remember the Monkey Paw though ( I actually bought some at a dispensary in the early 2000's when medical first came out Danny Travino who I believe is in prison now owned a few dispensaries in Jackson that had that strain) and my mom smoked around me when I was younger so I do remember some of the super skunky strains that she use to toke around me and my brother when we was younger. I haven't had anything in a while that would resemble the old school super skunk strains from the old days though. The Spice Cake is fairly loud with some skunky terps and so is the Skunk Hero 22 but they also have other softer terps mixed in that tone them down a bit on the skunkyness. It seems the 90's really ruined the true skunks as they all were crossed out to kill the super strong aroma that use to get you caught by the law. I did just drop some Exodus Cheese beans for my next photo breeding project and those are usually pretty loud and skunky. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for something that would fit that bill though and Im always crossing to find new and exciting terps to work with. Im pretty excited to try out the new cross I did between The Legend and the Spice Cake, if the terps mesh well that one should end up pretty wild.

Yeah you're right they did cross out the the skunk smell for whatever reason.
I really love that skunk smell. That big ass skunk bud and the big lime green seeds. I guess I meant to say that didn't find many seeds. No it was sinsemilia, but when you did find one they were big as hell.

I spent a lot of money on seeds over the years trying to find that skunk smell again.
I ordered the blues out of London. $$ That's pretty close to the skunk of the 80s. But it's hard to grow for me with the p.m. but it does pretty well for the most part with the p.m. Until the last week's of flowering. It's also definitely a plant that has to be trellised. As it has very flimsy branches. Just like The Exodus cheese. Even with lots of training. It does have a large bud and it does do well outside. My yields were really large. And it does have okay remanence of Aroma of the skunk plant not as strong as I'd like though I'd like it to be you know Knock You Out skunk smell. It did good for the most part, I still have about 8 reg seeds of the blues from UGORG.
Most of the people that encountered it with me really liked it a lot. I haven't even thought about running it this year tell you the truth. I got other things on my mind. A lot of people in this area right now are stuck on what you're talking about, the floral Terps. I'm running the modified grapes. 25 and wedding cake it's also local genetics also the Fire OG Kush from big head seeds. As they do pretty well as bread and butter strains. But I have my people that want the skunk. That loud ass, kick you right in the face skunk smell, That you just know exactly what it is as soon as you smell it. When you enter the room everybody just turns their heads and actually says "wow you reek".
to me that skunk smell has always been preferable over the cat piss smell. For just obvious reasons. I don't know why. But they both just get you stoned.
Yes that's a very sad thing about Danny Trevino. Him and his son. Super sad they were both railroaded. His son was running for I think city council here and he punched somebody or something to that affect, whoops.
That won't get you too far in the political Arena. I got my first Medical screening for MMMP card at his facility that was here on the south side.
So the monkey paw would be a great strain to recreate. If you can find the three crosses to recreate it. The Story Goes about monkey paw is that it was from a underground grower in Detroit. Back in the day. The only way you could get it. Was to order a pizza that obviously you had to have the right pizza joint and Driver you get that order I'm sure
and the pizza driver would bring it to you. That's the only way you could get it back in the 80s, so that's the story about monkey paw that I've been told on its origins.
It was a cross of Thai weed x Vietnamese sensei x something else.? Everyone that I've talked to so far and try to research this is this is as far as I've only got. Nobody knows the third strain in the equation. And then nobody has any idea of what crosses were first and what was crossed from them to you know the story so you can cross it all kinds of ways and you won't never come up with the same thing but maybe you can come up with something similar.
It was a long run sativa. Something like 12 weeks flower, maybe 14.
I ran the Neville's Haze outside (Light depth) it's 14 to 18 weeks flower. I wouldn't mind running it again. I wasn't that impressed with the high cuz it's only about 14% THC at best. But it would be super sweet to cross it with something that was Stronger and more dank. The Neville's Haze didn't really have dank buds, but it had big ass Buds and colins that were 5' long and a lot of them. It was a big ass plant even at only 14 weeks flowering. Harvest was huge. Like almost 3 kilos. Harvesting on 11/1 as a hard freeze was coming. It turned out to be a Yeti of my garden 2016. Yeti because every one of the colins had so many beautiful long ass sativa leaves draping down like the fur on the arm of a Yeti or Sasquatch, Bigfoot. Just that classic-looking marijuana plant that you just want to see on the cover of High Times. Boom!!
