Oh yeah, it's coming. Don't actually have to go out till the 1st of July. Been tinkering around on the boat though there's always a lot to do on the old girl.

A computer literate person in da house :toke:,,

I am :shrug:with them , in fact I haven't got one ,, I am purchasing one at end of the month :yoinks:.

I have been told to get at least 8gb of sheep megadoodles or is that ram ,, but ills get to the point  do I need this SSD thingymajigg ?
For me, I will never go from SSD back to old mechanical drives. The difference in speed is night and day. They also consume less power and generate less heat. That there are no moving parts makes them more reliable and generally longer lasting. If you can afford to spring for SSD, you won't regret doing so. With that said, mechanical drives are much cheaper, and of higher capacity, than SSD. The performance improvement of SSD may not be as critical for your use.

My system has a 1TB SSD for the operating system and most software, and my storage array (made up of the mechanical drives) is much larger, now 8 TB, and I store all my data on it. Songs, movies, pictures, etc. The four hard drives in the storage array each have 4 times the capacity (4TB) of the SSD, and cost about half as much. They are also MUCH slower, but that doesn't impact how I use my system very much. If I could afford the same capacity in SSD, i would get it in a heartbeat.

readers digest version: Get the SSD.

Thanks for the insight , the ones I looking at and within affordability have ssd and conventional hard drive , I guessing the boot and fav programmes go on the ssd bit from what you explained above :toke:

Looks like Heaven too me. Where's my fishing rod? I would have to carry one Everytime I went down along the river just to wet a line.

Dont forget the pepper spray for the bears :eyebrows:

Yep. Boot and programs go on SSD, documents, etc, go on HDD. You can change where windows stores the "Documents" "Downloads" etc shortcut folders, too. So you don't have to consciously remember to change the download location, or where your program is to save its documents etc.

That's pretty much how mine is set up, and as I said before if SDD were cheaper, I'd use those for data as well.

I have one I am using now that is well over 5 years old, and hasn't had a single error since day 1. My first SSD which is easily 7 years old is still chugging along in my lappy.

If you have any questions while setting things up, just shoot me a PM.

Cheers I will do :d5: ,,, I had to lol at my self , when I read above that they been around for seven years, I was thinking they a new technology on the scene

Man, Fate or someone was telling me to keep my happy ass on the couch today.
I was getting my fishing gear loaded up, and saw a 4 car accident happen up the road due to an impatient idiot in a jeep driving like a complete dumbass. That scene gets cleared up, and I get my stuff loaded up again, and as I step around to get in my car, I hear a sound that was like an oversized pop can getting squashed... Two car accident up the road, but in the OPPOSITE direction.
That right there decided I'm staying home this evening. Fishing can wait until the morning.

What's up LS half way through the journey to The Autoflower Cup. We are in Denver Colorado and stopping at a state campground where we will hang out with the other carpoolers
