Howdy Like Minded Folk,
I found you guys while searching for info on some auto strains and liked the vibe, lots of info and sharing. I guess it's time to introduce Jake.
I started my first seeds almost 35 years ago and was happy to smoke leafy greens back then. Started growing under 1000 MH and HPS in the late 80's and due to aptitude/greed became a member of a group of like-minded independent businesspersons. Went down in flames due to laziness/shit luck, paid the fines did my time (really only weekends). I hung around the biz as somewhat of a contractor helping others set-up for awhile but ultimately met my now wife moved back to my hometown and had kids and sort of forgot about my dreams of overgrowing the world.
A few years back I was looking at seedbank sites and saw Lowryders listed. As I am just below the arctic circle (really Subarcticjake I guess) I liked the idea of small stealth autos and had followed the early ruderalis crosses with interest. 2010 popped my first Lowryders outdoors and supplemented my 'abit that winter, more orders, more strains, more seasons later and I'm mainly self sufficient even for seeds.
I've always collected seeds even before the seedbanks but my first orders from the SSSC were for Beatrix Choice, Williams Wonder, Hawaiian sativa and Skunk #1 crosses. Although probably not viable I still have some of my earliest seeds as well a 1000 more. All the new stuff (I still order photo sensitive types, just in case legalization breaks out, but mostly autos) is sorted by breeder in binders with an Excel spreadsheet, yep I'm a weed nerd.
Last year I had bumper crop and shared with a lot of my friends - no sales, just a bit of a harvest festival. For a variety of reasons I took this summer off from cultivation, which grates on my soul, as well as I'm on a break from the herb mainly because of my employment. It sucks but I make a fair bit o cake and even though I love the 'erb I usually stop once a year for 100 days just to give my head a shake (and make sure that I'm still in charge of my head). I'm not medical just recreational anyway.
I went for hike in early July and stopped by one my plots, low and behold a volunteer (female, automatic and in bloom, pics on my subarctic volunteer thread). I'm taking it as sign, I've still got work to do.
Peace
Jake
