is this a problem

going for 1 now---sorry teacher---hehe----goin to lowes i guess

Lowes is not going to have what you need but you don't have to spend a lot of money. You can get by with a $5-$10 "color chart" pH tester from the pet store until you can get one from ebay or somewhere like that. A decent pH pen (for testing water) is only about $20-$25 from any number of places on the net. Let me know if you need a link. You'll find the color chart kits in the aquarium section of any pet store. The problem with the color chart is that you can really only tell what "range" your pH number is in... not the actual number. Also, it is only accurate when testing clear water. So, you can't buffer your fert solution with it.

the yellow one is hungry....... the ph and whatnot is negligible at best for soil. I've been using unph'd water for over a year in soil without issues and it was from MULTIPLE water sources. Even the one on the left is starting to slightly yellow. unless he has some majorly messed up water ph wise.... like a 12 or a 2 this shouldn't be the issue with normal soil. They also might just be rootbound at this point on only those 3. are they bigger than the others?

actually... even in soil ph is important..

not as sensitive as hydro... but important if you want a good crop

ph vs uptake.gif

tshirt youve been lucky with your water sources...

my first af grow i didnt have the $$ for aph pen... ph ended up over 7.5... and sure enough it killed my yields... caused phosphorous lockout and magnesium lockout

ive seen that chart all over the place and feel that its slightly misleading. there is a black and white version that shows a much wider range of nutrient uptake in soil. If your water isn't super hard and your ph isn't off the chart, natural soil grows buffer the solution quite well. But again I ran 100% organic so that comes into play as well.

this hart i assume you mean..

I run 100% organic too... that was with the fox farms nute line... well water was at ph 8.5... didnt know it... soil was FFOF at 6.5 (later tested a sample from same bag unchanged)

took about 35 days to go from 6.5 to up over 7.5 with a heavy nute regiment... which if you've run FFOF you know takes ph down... :smoke:

thats the one JM. sound advise too. soil is pretty forgiving for the most part. I'd love to see his other plants because I have a feeling these are either his biggest ones that need nutes/unrootbounding.

all 4 in those containers are root bound.i removed bottoms of cans all rootbound---where roots touched bottom there is brown spots on bottom roots.sides of cans are cardboard but top and bottom is medal100_3608.jpg

i cut off bottoms---slid out root ball put 2 lrs in 1-- 5 gallon bucket and others in1 gallon pots----then fed 5--1--1 1/4 strenth hope it helps

100_3617.jpg100_3618.jpgwound up putting a 3rd plant in the 5 gallon bucket.i wan100_3615.jpgt lr seed so i put a male and 2 females in the 5 gallon bucket.gonna set outside as much as possibe to make myself a bunch of seed ---gonna also poll100_3614.jpginate a cronic ryder fem and a deisel ryder fem for seed heres a couple picks.really jumped when i put them in the bucket--they were very rootbound.100_3613.jpg
