Indoor Is my tent too short?

I've used a 2.5'x2.5'x5' tent in the past and always hated the the height... With those photos I would only leave lights on 18/6 for like a week than go straight to 12/12 and than can even lower time of lights slowly to like 13/11, bend, break and top them a few times as even at 12/12 they will still take a month or so to start throwing preflowers... Photos can get HUGE if left to veg to long... A lot of possibilities with your set up and with lst'ing and other training methods you'll be surprised what you can fit in small spaces :crying: check out some of the threads in the micro section for ideas of keeping plants in tight spots.... :karma Cloud: on your grow

Hey I don't know if this will help but I also have limited height. I scrod my autos, if you want to follow my grow its under the indoor growing forum the thread is pineapple punch

Go out to Iowa or Nebraska. You'll see ditch weed in August at 10-12 feet. I would do something starting now.
Here's an article on all the different training methods, most are only for photos. LST and scrogging are for both.

Hello AFN!

Okay, so I've got a 4'x2'x60" tent by AH.
I am NOT growing autoflowers, probably shouldn't be on here in that case but you guys are a lot of help and I'm sure you won't be bothered by it.

I have a 600 watt magnetic ballast and a cool hood, everything Is looking great I really like the setup. But Jesus Christ if it could have just been half a foot taller I wouldn't be so worried. I have not started growing yet and I am using 7 gallon smart pots which are pretty short pots (10 inches tall, filled with soil to 9 inches) and I planned on growing Tahoe OG (Cali connection) and super silver haze (green house seeds) I do realize that I MAY want to rethink the ssh as that's a tall growing plant.

I had my light attached with ratchet ropes but it hung an extra like 6 inches lower from the roof than necessary so I rigged it to be raised all the way to the top to where it practically touches the roof.

With scrogging, topping, and lollipopping. Would it be possible to do this and still have a nice yield? The closest I would let the plants get to the GLASS (realize the bulb Is another inch or two above the glass) would be about 8 inches. could it get any closer or no?

Thanks for the support guys I'm super excited!

ALSO I grabbed some pot of gold, ocean forrest and happy frog, also some clay pellets and perlite. I plan on just mixing all the soil together into one big batch.

Yes, your ass is definitely too big for your jeans.... OOPPPS! Sorry, wrong thread...............LOL I have a 32"x32"60" and yes, its not tall enough..O'd say max plant height would be 40" and thats with my LED strapped directly to the support rod with maybe 3/4" clearance to the roof. LST, monster cropping, etc absolutely necessary if you going to grow a big plant on a small tent. And a disturbing trend in tent sizing is they are all getting shorter for some reason a 4'x4' tent use to be 84" tall on average, now they are 74-78".........WTF? 6-10 inches can make a big difference! I'm seriously considering building partitions and sheetrock walls and doing away with the tent idea. I understand that’s not an option for everyone. I'd like to see a company offer custom sizes. I'd pay extra for that feature.

Gorilla Grow Tent offers one foot extensions for their tents; I guess you could make them as tall as you wanted. Mine has one, but it's their smallest tent, so it needed one just to get to seven feet. As my ceiling is just a hair over seven feet, that's tall enough for me!

I have the exact same tent. You pick your strains carefully. Indicas are shorter, as a rule, than sativas. Autoflowers tend to go short. That's all I grow. So far my fave is World of Seeds AKR.
Easy to grow, not tall, really nice stone.

So far I've been growing one at a time. It's easier, and seeds are expensive. You may be surprised by the amount you get. I was.

I've been thinking of SOG, I even have a thread about it title 'Pond of Green?' You can certainly try the variations. But so far I haven't done any of them. When I had a plant get big, I trained the main cola to miss the glass.

If you are new to all this, I'd just start with a single plant, and an easy to grow strain. Like AKR.
It's easy to screw up and seeds are expensive. Don't think I'd start with SSH but you could just top it.

I've been told that the ideal is 50 watts/sq ft. So at 8 sq feet, 400 watts is good. Which is what I have. At 600 heat is going to be an issue. You don't want the temp to get into the 90s, and it's not going to be easy to avoid that. You are going to want a strong ventilation fan. I'm about to start my last grow before Fall, because I can't keep it cool enough in July.

I bought a Smart pot and wound up not using it. You see, you have to move the plant occasionally, and the fabric will let the dirt slide around, damaging the roots. I am using an Air pot at the moment, but I think I will go back to my reservoir pot for the next grow.
