I have the exact same tent. You pick your strains carefully. Indicas are shorter, as a rule, than sativas. Autoflowers tend to go short. That's all I grow. So far my fave is World of Seeds AKR.
Easy to grow, not tall, really nice stone.
So far I've been growing one at a time. It's easier, and seeds are expensive. You may be surprised by the amount you get. I was.
I've been thinking of SOG, I even have a thread about it title 'Pond of Green?' You can certainly try the variations. But so far I haven't done any of them. When I had a plant get big, I trained the main cola to miss the glass.
If you are new to all this, I'd just start with a single plant, and an easy to grow strain. Like AKR.
It's easy to screw up and seeds are expensive. Don't think I'd start with SSH but you could just top it.
I've been told that the ideal is 50 watts/sq ft. So at 8 sq feet, 400 watts is good. Which is what I have. At 600 heat is going to be an issue. You don't want the temp to get into the 90s, and it's not going to be easy to avoid that. You are going to want a strong ventilation fan. I'm about to start my last grow before Fall, because I can't keep it cool enough in July.
I bought a Smart pot and wound up not using it. You see, you have to move the plant occasionally, and the fabric will let the dirt slide around, damaging the roots. I am using an Air pot at the moment, but I think I will go back to my reservoir pot for the next grow.
