namvet, I'm almost positive what he's seeing are not calyxes, as they're distinctly different from the other calyxes on the plant. When a male flower shows on a female plant it's going to stick out like crazy because it'll be a pale yellow color with bananas protruding from it. That's what I think is happening here.

yea, a male flower will stick out like a sore thumb amongst the calyxes when a plant shows both sexes.
