it’s a basement that is anaverage British living room size

There are some calculators you can find on the net that will give you the CFM needed for your grow space. Enter in the room size to get square footage and it will show you what you need.

But you will definitely need a bigger filter for an actual room. 6" filters are usually used in 4 x 4 tents and a bit bigger.
