hello everyone,
I am planning my second grow. My first grow in a small space and considering using led's.
My space is 21x 13x 36 inches. I'm planning on doing a 1 plant Scrogg. My questions are what size led would be good, and also how far should the be from the tops of the plant.
Thanks in advance

I went through this last winter and I did a lot of research before deciding that LEDs would work in my limited vertical space(I have 34" form the top of the pots to the lights surface) I ran a bunch of PC fans just overtop of the canopy of the plants, and got plants within 4-6" of the lights with no bleaching or other ill effects. An important factor is getting 3watt lights, as 5 watt chipped leds are said to be too intense at close proximity. If you are shopping for lights make sure they have UV and IR in the spectrum. UV definietely increases trichome production, and the far red light of the IR feeps plants short and stocky, and keep nodes tight resulting is very profusely flowered plants.
Strain choice is also paramount to success. I had excellent success with the various stone strains available in the autoflower portal. Moonstone, Bloodstone, Stone Dragons all stay short and are packed with tons of excellent bud.

HOnestly in a space like that I think you would do better running 2 plants at a time.(but they would have to be a small plant strain that would focus on a main cola)

One of my 100w advanced diamond series led's would fit perfectly.

The DS100 would work as well.

@912GreenSkell thanks for the idea, I was thinking about it. I would have to heavy lst them. The beans that I am going to be a blueberry, and a northern light both autos. When I grew them out I topped
both, the northern light grew to 24 inches tall and to bushy to go through a door without hitting the side. I was mainly wanted to Scrogg that one because I should be able to fill that space pretty good.

@Coffee&Kush, lol I looked all over cl and found nice led's but they were from 400 to 1000 watts. I did find one that might work, it's a 45 watt led with red and blue lights. Would one work or would I need 2?

Myself I would be gearing toward a Galaxy Hydro 100X3w(140w real draw) from ebay for $100 shipped. They have both UV and IR and are great lights.

@Coffee&Kush - Hey 5w diodes aren't too intense at close proximity? Are you pushing the limits with proximity of plant to light?

Here is a pic of a sour D mango that was grown under a galaxyhydro 100X3w her entire life

I'm not saying they wouldn't work, as people use smaller wattage cfl's. But they generally are using at least 4 or more. But for the price, the LED @912GreenSkell was talking about didn't seem bad at all. I've got mine about 15" above the canopy and they seem to be handling them well. The XTE has dimmers for both veg and bloom, the DS just has switches for both. And when the were seedlings, they were about 36" above the top. I was extremely impressed with it for just using around 70-80w.
