New Grower I probably should have waited until fall...

There is no shortcut to a good dry and good cure. You have months invested in this grow don't blow it in the last few weeks. IMPO the cure is the most important step that separates the average bud vs the superior bud!

Not trying to take a short cut, as I am in no hurry. This grow will be over 130 days when finished! I am still stocked up from the CA dispensary selloff in June. They were literally selling top shelf buds for pennies on the dollar as July 1st approached. I bought a few

Just trying to decide what trim and dry method would give me the best shot at a good cure.

Keep your eye on the target: You want to dry in 7 or more days (but not so slow as to invite mold). Then cure in quart or 1/2 gallon jars. Burp them every day, open to the air for 15 minutes or so (longer if they are over 65% shorter if they are < 60% humidity). Every few days carefully dump the buds out to make sure they are not holding pockets of moisture where they may stick together. Handle them gently so as not to break off the trichomes. After the first two weeks you can start burping them weekly then monthly. Then every 6 months if they last that long.

Thank, man. Good stuff here. If they last that long is right!

Have to say I'm really pleased with the paper bag method. I've only used whole plant or branch hanging before. Never thought dry trim was much of an issue until I did my first wet trim last week. The wife and I were able to break down 450+ grams in less than 45min compared to multiple hours before. The smallest plant was dry in 3 days, the other 3 were dry in 5 days. There's almost no chlorophyll smell or taste, and every day in the jar they get better. You've got enough material that you could always try multiple drying techniques this grow.

I have been thinking about this post, and I do want to try a couple different things, since I have the opportunity. Now is the time for me to experiment on a couple different methods to figure out what works for me. Here is my plan, as of now.

Critical Purple - I will do a whole plant hang and a true dry trim before jarring. I chose the CP for the whole plant hang because, well, it's size and structure seems to support it. There won't be a lot of leaves to cut, which is the main downside of whole plant dry trimming.

Gorilla Glue - I will harvest and wet trim and manicure the entire plant. For one third of the plant, I will trim the buds off wet, and place in a paper bag for the full dry.

I will hang the manicured buds still on stems for the rest of the plant. However, after a few days, I will remove half of the stems, snip the buds and put them in paper bags to finish the dry. The remaining stems will complete the hang dry.

So, three different drying methods on the GG, and a fourth with the CO. Since I have been learning all along during this grow, I will complete the process in that same spirit. Looking forward to this experiement and learning opportunity.

This test will solve a potential problem for me, as I have no idea how the buds will translate into jars, and I may not have enough (the GG worries me, in a good way). With this test, I can expect to jar four different times. The pure paper bag dry will be ready first, followed by the hybrid paper bag/hang dry, followed stem hang dry, and finally the whole plant hang. I will know if I need more jars and have time to get them.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Thoughts?

Heading out of town for a few days. Took some flash photos to remember them by. Flush starts Friday.

Thanks JRok! It’s been a big learning opportunity! So glad I will have something to show for it!
