Running two tents in my growage, a 4x4 and 3x3 Gorilla's and a 4'x2'x40" tall seedling cabinet with 6 bulb 4' T5. I have several 600w Lumatek dimmable ballasts, and also a 1K ballast setup. All my ballasts and bulbs acquired from purchasing off Craigslist from black thumb growers.

My growage gets cold, needs supplemental heating. I use two 1500w oil filled heaters when needed in winter, and exhaust back into growage. I also have 5 Autocob's from @BigSm0 that are used in spring/fall and hopefully this summer once AC is added.

I'v had a few bulb failures recently and figure I need to invest in new ones. Is Lumatek still the bulb to buy? I'm planning a 600w HPS and MH as well as a 1K HPS purchase. I'm finding ~$60 bulbs on Amazon for the HPS.. but ~$100 for a 600w MH, is there a better priced MH bulb comperable to the Lumatek or is it that superior?

Appreciate any input..

I deal with this every winter. My building may even be cooler than a garage if it’s attached to your house. I’m also fully shaded so sun doesn’t ever hit the space at all.
I did a few upgrades and the cobs alone kept the temps just right.
Below the tents I put 2” of the Richie pink foam. I also layed a 2x4 across the back under the foam and in the middle I put a furring strip to pitch the foam. This really helps with pitching the tent Incase you ever have runoff to vaccum up. On top of the tent I got some cheap harbor freight moving blankets. I layed them across the top and down the sides. After an hour I put my hand between the blankets and tents wall and could feel the heat.
Something these companies need to do is figure a way to insulate tents. It works in warmer temps too. Many people cool their tents and heat occasionally. Just like a house, insulation can save you tons of $$. If I was you I’d invest a little to help get the temps up a bit. Using more wattage is a bit of a waste. This doesn’t help the bulb question lol.
