Lighting HLG 600 rspec and ETHOS

tried to germ 4 auto seeds to do under the 600 rspec but planted them into hot soil. So, a reboot!

I have 2 Ethos Mandarin Zkittlez R1 seedlings at day one and day 3 with fingers crossed that 2 more show. They are Photoperiod. When they get big enough they will be transplanted into 5 gal SIP buckets… thinking of getting some new soil for the buckets as I’ve reused this soil about 3 times. Prob go with water only or organic with teas.

They have to get a little bigger before shipping them to the tent.

They are 6 and 9 today. Looks like they stalled in the veg cab. Temp is a little low. I moved them to the 4x4 this am so hoping to see some growth. The soil I have in the SIP buckets has been used and reused. I burnt a couple auto seeds in it so time to replace it with something better. Will prob reamend for OD with Dr earth and biochar. But replacement soil is necessary. It will either be Fox farms happy frog local at $23.99 for 2 cu ft, Mother Earth terracraft local pickup at 26.99 for 2 cu ft, or Dr earth all purpose potting soil organic 1.5 cu ft for 23.99 delivered. It has yucca and aloe extract in the mix. It’s a small drive but will prob do the fox farms. If they are out of that I’ll get Coast of Maine… they carry the whole line

Day 12 and 15 for these two, growth seems real slow atm. Prob wet roots starting out. Hope they start taking off… I have new soil, ready to veg them and take cuttings/top to fill the tent with two big girls and a lot of little mini-me’s of them. Soil they wil be growing in is Mother Earth Terracraft. Amended for at least 4-5th wk when I’ll be feeding them thru SIP res Megacrop one part all purpose.

So, finally figured out the photone app on the iPhone. Seedlings at the bottom of tent (on soda crate) we’re getting 45 dli… not good so the 600 rspec is now set at second click and raised their tub/dish on a dvd carousel to get the dli right or thereabouts. I think that’s why they were growing so slow. It is now at 18 dli per 24 hrs. Once they get a little size to them I’ll up-pot to the 5 gal SIP’s and then start the veg and top/clone cuttings. Don’t need a lot, enough to fill the tent and reverse one for pollen.

they aren’t SS blackberry gum… ETHOS! Mandarin Zkittlez r1. Sips that are in there will be emptied of the old used up soil and cleaned before filling with Mother Earth Terracraft blend with more perlite mixed in.

They are days 20 and 23 today. Temps have been low due to lowering the light power on the HLG 600 rspec I am actually in between clicks one and two. DLI at their little canopies is 18 for 24hr. So this morning I took the little 700w infrared heater and popped it in there. Inkbird is set for 75F so good on that. Once it warms up in there I hope to see some growth. Gonna wait til the day before transplant to get the SIPs ready. Going to mix a heap of rinsed perlite into the terrablend.

Rather than 75˚F, I suggest 78-80˚F. I aim for this and I think this is what the majority of growers (or those expressing opinions on temps.) appear to target.

Yeah, I usually do as well. But they are photos… they’ll handle it. After adjusting the 600 rspec for DLI my stoner mind forgot that the temp would drop. 61F is where it sat for 30 hrs til I noticed. I’ll prob adjust up to 80. Thanks!

Midweek post… got the new soil mixed with perlite. Buckets are filled and ready to go. Watered with room temp water and popped them in tent gave the seedlings/young veg girls a drink and mist and closed it up. Later today I’ll go back down and plant them, readjust light for DLI and make sure res’s are full up.

One of the girls is a multiple stem. A single-double stem. I think I’m gonna train this one different than the other starting Tomorrow. Gonna train them out and top a couple times. It’ll almost be like a manifold

So the girls have been slow. They were a little root bound in the solos. Got them planted in their SIP’s on Wednesday and I see they are starting to get going. The triple has gotten flattened and spread again as tips were already reaching for light. Still plain water and in res… as soon as I can I’ll start taking tops for clones. I may keep one as a mother in veg for my OD (non-comp) crop and then put her out as well.

my plan is to clone the cuttings and fill this tent with Mandarin Zkittlez. Not sure how I’ll grow them but if it looks to be too unruly I’ll throw the net on and Scrog the lot of them! Also, eventually gonna have to cut the center leaves out of the middle of the triple. I think I’ll call her Threesa! And the other I’ll call Jane… as in plain? Lol hard to think of a good name… maybe Norma? As in Normal… Norma Jane! That’s the ticket. Just needed y’all here to bounce my ideas off of lmfao!
