Hello people of AUTOFLOWER.
I been growing for few years as I am retired and pot is so expensive.
I am old style growing,I don't check PH or EC, can get my head around it.
I use miracle grow, pk13/14 and 400W HPS.
been told autoflower is way forward.
can you flower under 18 hours and what seed are best.
thank in advance for any help and advice.

Hey brother welcome to the forum!

There's a huge range of very quality auto strains out there so you can pick and choose on what suits your needs best with a bit of research.
As for lighting you can flower an auto flower with anything from 12/12 to 24 hours of light, However most people choose 18/6 or 20/4 (personally i run 20/4)
The one thing you will have to change up for sure with your growing style is your soil, MG is far to hot for autos and will cause serious nute burn from the get go. It will pay to get one of the quality light mixes such as plagron light mix (theres many out there, this is just what i use)

Ps. although you are obviously getting results without checking ph ect it will improve the quality/yield of your plant(s) if you take to doing this.
If you brought a ph testing pen the actual process of balancing the ph in your water is very very easy. You simply place the pen in the water and take a reading, once you have your baseline of say 8.0 ph all you need to do is add a couple of drops of ph buffer and retest. If growing in soil around 6.5 is what you should be aiming for :thumbs:

I want get better results, sounds simple to test PH.
I check how much is ph testing pen. I go into hydro shop.
don't like going, not sure who is watching. maybe I can get my daughter to buy online.
what autoflower you grow, what is easy to grow. where best to buy.
asking to many things mate, sorry I am bit thick, lol

Chances are you will find better prices online for a ph pen anyway, someone on here will be able to link you a good one im sure.
Im actually growing 4 different strains right now, Jack-47 Cream mandarin Afghan kush and Blue himalaya. So far im most impressed with the cream mandarin from sweet seeds and the afghan kush from world of seeds. However that said this is my first grow so ill let someone else recommend strains for you as some are harder to grow than others (i just chose what tickled my fancy)
Check out these seed banks, take your time and have a good look around buddy theres plenty of choice!

I use miracle grow

Most people have problems with miracle grow..it is too hot especially for young plants.

Seedling compost or universal compost from the garden centre is probably Best...and again discrete..

There is a New Growers forum where you will get help and advice to get you through your first grow without any problems

Wish i had been smart enough to make the same choice! having 4 strains on the first run like myself can get quite stressful. All my plants look totally different and this makes it very hard for me to read them so to speak.
However that said i guess ill have a nice choice of smoke and its given me the opportunity to see what grows the best in my set up :thumbs:
