Guys I've neen lurking about the forum and have attempted to read different pieces here and there and I would really like to reach out and just ask you guys a few questions.

Firstly my background is a habitual but not always smoking bud kinda guy. I like to smoke from time to time and DO NOT like paying an arm and a leg just to burn a little buddah. I don't have a clue how to grow a fucking tomato let alone some cannabis.

So any way I've been looking at all the different ways and options people have to grow autoflowers and it seems like as of right now DWC is the way to go. Also it seems genetics and lighting are a huge factor.

What strain do you reccomend that geneticly is superior as far as yields go?

How should i feed the plant?

btw guys my grow space is 3x4x5 and i want to use cfl. Any suggestions on what type of bulbs to get ?

Personally if you have never grown anything before, stay away from DWC. Yes it produces great results in the right hands, but it it is also very easy to get it wrong if you don't know what you're doing, and it's a lot of hard work. For your first grow I would keep it nice and simple using a premix soil. Here is a great thread by Agito that should get you going on the right track. Happy farming

Welcome to AFN and the New Growers forum. I agree, DWC is not the best choice for new growers. With any hydro setup things can go wrong fast and there is often very little time to get them sorted. Soil is more forgiving and generally much easier for new growers to master. Take a look around your area and see what types of soil are available. Pro Mix or Sunshine #4 are both good choices. I would suggest using 3 gallon pots.

How many plants are you planning on growing? In a 12 sq. ft. area you can grow about 9 plants. To effectively light what whole area with CFLs you will probably need somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 plus total watts. 6500k for veg, 2700k for flowering. If they are standard 23 watt bulbs you'll need at least 26 of them, so maybe not the best option. A 12 bulb Quantum Bad Boy T5 might be a better option or three Blackstar 240 watt LEDs. A 400 watt HPS system would also be effective but will generate a lot of heat, which can be problematic without proper ventilation.

Some other things you should also have:

Extraction fan and carbon filter to remove the smell.
Digital pH meter.
Internal circulation fan(s).

Regarding what to grow, Mi5 from Short Stuff is a good starter strain. Easy to grow, yields well and produces a good balanced smoke.

It is a great simple way to get started, so you can get your hands dirty and learn about the plant and its different stages of life. Seems cheaper to go with this way that has been recommended by agito. Good Luck with your grow, and one love:peace:
