Hello fellow growers

I've just started my first grow. My setup is as follows;

Strain- Critical + Auto Feminized
Tent-60x60x1.4
Medium- Plant magic soil
Pots- 11L
Lighting- 125w CFL-blue for vegetation
200w CFL-red for flowering
Fan/Extraction-100mm systemair RVK sileo 100E2

Carbon Filter- 100mm Rhino hobby filter 300mm long

Small fan 100mm 2 speed

I'll be using general hydroponic flora nutes

So my question is do I need to have my smaller fan running at all times towards my plants to increase strength and air movement or will just having my extraction fan running 24h be enough to to take stale air out and keep fresh air coming in with the vent at the bottom of my tent?

I hope this makes sense to someone.

Thanks

Beanosk

hi and welcome :pass:
thinks its best for the air to deflect or bounce off a wall or something first early on.helps strenghten the stem(so they say)seems to work to.
i have a lil fan low down 15min on/off cycle.
looking good.

Thanks mate. I'll keep the small fan running aswell then. Would it be better to be on all the time or short intervals it's just that one of seedlings has also started to lean abit so I've mounded a small amount of soil round her to keep straight.

Sorry mate didn't see the last part of your post saying about on off cycle. Will do the same I think.

if its not an oscilating fan then id say short intervals.lil mound/stick or something for support is sometimes needed,so not a big deal at this stage.

I have 1x 6in clip on fan for my first grow, pointed around the center of my 3 pots to get a good breeze on them to prevent mold as I have a high RH environment going in my tent, and I had been spraying them frequently throughout the day which I am starting to ween them off of. I've since added a second 6in clip on fan, I've kept them kind of high so as not to have too strong a breeze, but strong enough that I can obviously see the leaves being rustled a bit and the stems moving as I want them to build up a stronger, thicker stem. I also have a 6inch 440cfm inline fan w/ carbon filter for extraction that goes on once for 2 minutes every hour. Will change once they don't need as high RH. Lastly I put a 10 inch fan on the outside pushing air in right at the bottom intake area for fresh air.

Again this is my first grow as well so it's a learning thing. Seems to be working. Your plants look nice and healthy how old are they now?

Oh and welcome to AFN, make sure you read through these forums and ask ANYTHING. Lots of good information and loads of friendly faces here to help. May good grow karma come your way...

i leave my fans runing on full during the day(hot hours) then at night time i switch to a lower setting, isolating fans i like because it rotates but if u have a stand still fan u can use intervals on a timer

wind is good for the stems to make them stronger

A fan inside the tent serves 2 purposes, I can think of. 1) builds stronger plants, like Archie says. 2) it helps circulation within the tent, eliminating stale air pockets. You want a constant exchange of air/co2. The fan inside tent helps with this.

My vote...keep it on, 24/7

Also, Archies comment about indirect, on seedlings is bang on.

Just added 2 20w CFLs warm light. Is this going to have any effect?
