Hello all like minded folks, after years of smoking I've finally managed to get the wife to allow me to grow my own, so I have been slowly gathering all the things I need and I am now at the stage of picking my seeds, here is a description of my setup and hopefully someone can answer some of my questions.

Grow room 80x80x160

110w powerplant propogation light (2x55w cfl tubes)

250w maxibright digital ballast

Dual spectrum hps sunmaster bulb (250w)

Cooltube reflector

5'' systemair fan and filter

4x11 gl pots


Questions:-

1. Which strain? I'm aware i aint got the biggest grow room which is why Im gonna go auto, my plan is to have two young autos under the powerplant light and two flowering autos under the hps so i will need fairly small plants i assume, hopefully not too small though. but i would still like a decent yield with good strength, if there is such a thing any suggestions greatly appreciated.

2.How close to the plants can i have the cooltube reflector?

3.Which soil to use? my friend seems to be having great success with canna terra pro+ or is this too strong for fragile youngsters?

thats about all the questions i ca think of while this stoned but I'm sure i will remeber more at some point,

Hiya and welcome to the site. That's a totally decent size tent I say. Especially for four plants. Plenty of vertical headroom.

1. I suggest Onyx, MI5, or any of Stitch's Flash Seeds or any Dutch Passion. There are so many! HERE is our strain/smoke report section. Check it out.

2. Don't use HPS, not exaaaaactly sure. Since they'll be older when they get to the HPS, I believe you can have them within about 12 inches or so in flower as long as your temps and air flow are good.

3. I use Promix BX and so do a lot of others. If you can find that cool. Someone else may chime in about the mix you're speaking of..

Welcome!
Ph your soil and water, don't skip out on that, you'll need a meter
I find planting in peat pellets after germing is nice and simple to start my seeds
Big bang is also another nice sized strain with a nice yield, but most autos in the right bucket get to a decent size I think.
No nutes to seedlings

Those are things that would have made my first grow more successful ^ haha good luck!
