Indoor HELLLLLLLLLP!!!! My light keeps turning of every 15-20 minutes!!!

Hey guys. So today my light for NO REASON has decided to shut off on me so i turn it back on and 15-20 min later it shuts off again. I've tried moving the cord to dif plugs to help get more juice to the light and nothing is helping. The light just keeps shutting off every 15-20 min.

Last time this happend to me was when I bought everything and when the light went out I noticed the light bulb was filled with white powder instead of beign clear like normal. The company told me the bulb was bad and replaced it. ever since I had no problem up until not except this time there is now white powdery stuff and the bulb looks fine.

Plz help. any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreicated.

cheap brand lol. Got the 6' air cooled hood, digital ballast. hps bulb, MH bulb, yo-yo hangers and a heavy duty timer for $309 on ebay.

I think it may be the ballast. I switched bulbs back to my MH in hopes to at least have SOME llight but when i go to power. the light flikers on for a second or less then off. Like it doesn't get enough power. SOOOO maybe its my ballast. in which case I"M REALLY FUCKED. I have 3 Bad bettys which 1 showed me her lady parts and 6 W.Jems that are a week old. I won't have any extra mony for a couple months.

Fuck my lilfe. Every time i think things are FINALLLy coming around this dumb shit happens.........sigh

sounds like internal breaker is tripping on the ballast, does ballast wattage and bulb match up?

as an emergency back-up
you can use a large base cfl
bulb ,same size as the hps,
from lowes,home depot,wal-mart.

unplug the power cord that runs
to the reflector,and plug that end
into a wall outlet instead of the ballast.
this way you can still use your hood
until you replace the ballast.

you can get adapters to downsize the
hps socket also

i am using a wal-mart 4 foot t8 shoplight
with 6500k bulbs ...not much penetration
power but,I'm still able to grow.

It sounds like it might be tripping due to a protective thermal cutout opening, does the fixture/ballast appear to be overheating?

damn bro that really does suck. you know we all feel for you. i've been lucky so far and it's only been my bulbs that have blown. hopefully when my ballst decides to take a shit i'll have made a little cash so i can replace the thing. there's just not a good time for grow equipment to breakdown on ya. good luck in gettin your grow back up man.

That was my thinking. Maybe put a small fan blowing on it to cool it down.

I feel for you....just when you think you will get ahead...shit happens. Put a fan on it like muddy suggested. So sorry....

No...It don't overheat or anything. Stays really cool.

I had it off all day so i JUST tried it and same thing. IT flickers on for half a second and then off and you can still hear the fan on the inside of the ballast running.

I believe that for good thing in life to happen to people. bad things have to happen to others. There has to be an opposite otherwise we have nothing to compare to I sadly think i'm just one of the unlucky people who will have to journey through this world getting shitted on no matter what good I do.....which makes it REAL hard to tell/teach my son that "doing right" is always the right thing to do. and "Karma" will always pay you back....Ok enough of my pitty party lol.
