I started my seedlings in rockwool and waited for them to pop out the top and didn’t take much notice of roots coming out the bottoms before placing the cubes directly into my Wilma system all clay pebbles under 250watts of hps what is adjustable up to 600 watts but didn’t want to give them to much of a shock. Had some real struggles with the seedlings, Lost one already I’m guessing over watering possibly.. although many say it’s impossible to over water plants in a Wilma system in clay pebbles.. they was slow to grow and then they have started growing I’ve had all sorts of issues with the leaves il add a pic or two for some further analysis and may need to take better ones as the light seems to hide the true look of the leaves and issues I’m having atm

they are currently sitting under 250 watts of hps lighting

the temp is stable at 25
Reservoir temp 22.3
Ph 5.8
Pmm 400
Plenty of fresh intake air and old air not recirculated
In a 4x4 tent with humidifier humidity sitting at 57% consistently

any helpful info will be much appreciated as to what I may need to adjust or do differently light is currently sitting around 30” away from the seedlings as I don’t want to stress them out anymore then they seem to be

Yeah, it’s hard to diagnose in that lighting, since we can’t see the color and state of leaves. You may try moving the light up a few inches and see how they respond.

A couple of things: did you buy the more expensive PH balanced Hydroton? If not you may be doomed to constant nutrient problems. The other potential problem is you may have burried the rock wool too deep and the pebbles abraded the stem allowing secondary infections, like crown rot?

Hi I bought the canna aqua pebbles everything I got was all canna so I stuck to the same brand for nutes and pebbles etc as they are made for each other, rockwool sits just neatly in the pot can see the rockwool cube isn’t too deep in the pot. I’m mythed a little either over watered or too much nutes il get some better pics shortly, my banana strawberry is in soil and is doing perfect so it can’t be the light being to close as I first thought

Ok then look at the accuracy of your tools then. PH and EC. It is nearly impossible to over-water hydrton but not the rock wool. A-ok Starter cubes will hold water for an hour or two with a plant that size. Fertigate away from the rockwool so just the edge is getting a little. When the plant gets larger this will not be a problem. Pull the hydroton away from the stem. They are very abrasive and can abrade the stem.

Are the pipe cleaners the beginnings of some LST? Did you say how old the plants are?

Hi duckster
Some are roughly two weeks old and a couple about 8/9 days old. And yeah the pipe cleaners are just there for some LST I only just put them in on the bigger plants so the stem stays down before I start moving it around and getting the lower branches come through, I’ve seen some of your grows in the Wilma system and impressed by them. I’ve upped the feeding schedule as they seemed to be drying out quickly regardless to how high I had the light what is roughly 36” away atm and only running on 250 watts and moved the fan closer, everything is seeming really stable environment wise. Temps humidity and res temp and also I noticed a drop in the ppm today so I’m assuming they are feeding some of that goodness now,They seem to be doing a lot better today il try upload some better pics today as I was meant to yesterday.. I got gelato fastbuds, blueberry bakery seed co and gorilla glue fastbuds, cause I’ve now lost one I was gonna pop a fastbuds Girl Scout cookie to take up the spare pot. I’m not going to be fiddling with anything now they seemed to of recovered from whatever the issue was it’s been a nightmare

A few better clearer taken pics of some of the issues I’ve been having look at the state of some of these leaves on the seedlings, it’s everyday learning for me.. tlc and patience fingers crossed I’m on the right road to recovery with them now

Thanks for that. I think I only did 2 grows in my Wilma. Then I switched back to hydro. The grows in the Wilma turned out great but I found changing the reservoir and tending the plants a bit cumbersome in my space. I didn't like dealing with the mountains of hydrton and I had to adjust the pH everyday. Several growers on here using Wilma systems doing some fabulous grows. Check out @Itisi and @woody. Nice setup, is that a 4 x 4 tent? Is that a 10 pot system? My first Wilma grow only had 3 plants and it completely filled my 4 x 4 tent. So, if you're doing 10 plants it's going to get really crowded!
