Indoor Have I got enough bubbles?

Hi mate

You'll probably find you'll Only need ph down but you'll defo need both in your arsenal as a hydro grower. Your tap water ph will always need bringing down to 5.8 as it always starts off high. Mine is usually around 7 it's also better to let it stand for a day before use as it it can rise a bit if you don't. Also I just used canna start and was really unimpressed it also made my ph rise. Maybe try formulex instead, people always seem to get good results. I'll be using it next. I would also buy some ph buffer solution for your ph pen and double check the calibration.

Good luck mate. I'll defo sub if you put a diary on!

yea, totally enough bubbles. I'm even getting away from diffusers now and just flooming the water with an open end line. The dissolved oxygen is at a higher level that way versus air stones. And, its cheaper. Anyone that knows me knows that Im poor as hell and need to save money like a crazy person. :)

But that right there is some really nice water movement!

Thanks guys! I plan on shooting a few more vids and at least semi documenting my first DWC grow. Medicine Man - by flooming do you just mean you are leaving an air line in the water with no airstone attached? what kinda bubbles does that put out? I always thought that tiny bubbles from a diffuser help to oxygenate the water more effectively?

The breaking of the surface tension of the water is where the oxygen comes from. When you give the water big motion it's got more surface area to collect the oxygen from the surrounding air, and then can incorporate more of it into the solution. An open air line won't produce bubbles, but movement, and the surface movement is key.

Be careful of to much flow of your air diffuser as it can rip roots. Try to hang some rope down till the middle of the bucket and see what's happening. If it will float and jump out of water, you have to much flow. What kind of airdifusser you have (maybe you can find a pic)?
It is not a rule of thumb but it was my sad experience with to much of flow in the bucket. To calibrate your ph pen with best results try to use 2 calibration liquids (ph 7.01 and ph 4.01) and don't forget to check temp of test liquid as it has his role in the play as well. Hope it helps and if you will have more issues, just post and some one will help, it is great place to gain experience.
