Good afternoon and happy holidays friends!
My name is the HashyApache, and tonight I'll be your captain on your journey through the Rhizosphere!
I've been a long time lurker on the forums here for a couple of years now, and have been blown away by just how knowledgeable and passionate the community here is, so I decided to claim my spot, pitch my tent, and see whats shaking on shakedown street!
Just to give you all a little background, I've been growing outdoors for 9 seasons now, and have been growing indoors on and off for the past four years. Living in the far northern zone of the Northeastern US presented itself with quite a few issues when I first started. Frosts up here hit hard and early, with our first usually arriving around mid September, really limiting what strains I could grow. On top of that, rippers really hit hard here right before hunting season, which always seemed to be a problem for me. I spent many hours looking for strains which finished early, stayed short and squat out of the line of sight of rippers and LEO, and were resistant to pests and disease. Because of this I discovered autoflowers, and It was love at first sight.....
I started off nine years ago growing with the fox farms trio in ocean forest soil, but quickly discovered the power of organics and have not looked back since. After years of late night research sessions, a few books by Jeff Lowenfels, thousands of pounds of worm castings, dozens of 50 lb bags of dry organics, and tons of Sunshine Mix later, I have finally developed my own 100% organic Autoflowering supersoil mix. This will be my first trial run on my Apache mix, so I figured what better time to get a journal going?! I hope you all enjoy the journey even half as much as I do.
To give you an idea of what we are working with here, I've got a full sealed 14 x 20 foot room with 8' ceilings and 4 air cooled (cool tube style) 1000 watt HPS lamps (Which will be stepped up to 6k in the next month or so) all run by dimmable digital ballasts attached to a Titan Controls Helios 11 relay box. The lights are cooled with an 8 inch Can Max Fan Pro series inline fan that feeds air through the lamps from a lung room and exhausts them into an adjacent room past the grow room, allowing the room to be fully sealed and the environment (temp, humidity, CO2) to be fully controlled.
On this upcoming run I'm going to be growing each plant from seed to weed in [HASHTAG]#5[/HASHTAG] smart pots filled with four gallons of the Apache Blend soil on the bottom, and a single gallon of Royal Gold brand Tupur (Coco coil amended with ancient forest humus and basalt) on top to allow the seedling to give it a week or two to really establish itself before reaching the rich supersoil.
*LET THERE BE LIFE!*
Being a supersoil grow, I intend to feed little more than soil microbes, carbohydrates and RO water, but will also have the full line of Nectar For The Gods to be used as a supplemental feed later on in bloom (if needed at all).
Plants will also receive Microbe Life Photosynthesis plus (nitrogen fixing bacteria and mycorrizae), Colony X, Deep 6 carbon, OSA-28 orthosilicic acid, Mammoth P microbes, and z7 Flying Skull Enzymes.
Organic or not, dont let the bottled nutrient line scare you away, my approach to gardening is nothing short of TLO, and all of my focus is on my rhizosphere..... you know.... where the action really goes down!
Right now I'm finishing up my current Dutch Passion grow (which should be fully chopped hopefully not long after New Years), but next up we have a pretty diverse run ahead of us. In the room I will be cultivating...
-18 Dutch Passion Auto Daiquiri Lime.
-9 Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate
-9x Dinafem White Widow XXL
-3x Flash Seeds Number One Super Auto
-9x Dutch Passion AutoMazar
But until then.... Let me give you a quick taste of what we have finishing up in the room as I type this...
Just a touch of the Daiquiri Lime in all of her diesely citra goodness.... Picture was taken about a week ago, and is really packing on the funky resin.... Cant wait to pull her in the next week, and cant wait to have you all along for the ride!
Happy Festivus Friends and Family! Look forward to chatting with you all!
