I just pulled the trigger on a hanna 98129 - close to 200 bones but as long as I can keep it calibrated and the electrodes in good shape it should last a while and open the door to proper hydroponic measurements. It should arrive in a week or so and I'll post a review. I ordered all the chemicals that you need to run it too, much to the chagrin of my wallet. More when she comes in the post.

Good choice brother!!! you are gonna love it!!! Solid meter!!! keep it mind that that meter comes with the electroid tool so if it ever fails you can replace the electroid yourself!!! Just dont let the meter get dry and you will be fine!!! also use it to :pee: !!!! stay healthy and congrats on your meter!! :slap:

Hi errrybody, Grado coming back with the Hanna out of the box. First thing I did was take the probe out and set it in a bottle cap full of storage solution. The pen is bone dry but in two hours that'll be sorted. I got 230ml of every known chemical hanna makes, even one labeled daves piss... dunno what thats about but I'll check the pH and get back to you guys.

Another thing real quick. I noticed the device was manufactured in Mauritius, which I then had to look up because seriously, where the hell is Mauritius? Turns out its okay, it's halfway between India and Madagascar no one looks there. Silly remote island. The chemicals are synthesized in Romania. I'm not an idiot, I know that's in Italy. ;) Weird to know where this stuff comes from sometimes.

I've been busy lately but today I'm calibrating both the pH and PPM/EC probe. Since this is a new pen I'm activating the pH probe by soaking it for an hour in pH 4.01 solution. See ya an hour!

And weeere back!

I calibrated the pH probe and tested out a dixie cup full of my piss. I'm at 6.25. And now I have to go ask Aunty Mossy how unhealthy I am. While I wait to see just how much beer and coffee I'll have to skip out on in the future I'll calibrate the ppm probe and then set it up for a little shelf time.

I broke the probe tool cause it's made of thin plastic... that was fun. Then I broke the glass probe trying to remove the probe for storage. Once again, this is why I can't have nice things. Last month I broke my MF Launch Box, no sweat, got a new one and sent the old one back... 10 days of downtime because I'm hard on my gear. Ahh, now I have to get a new probe and removal tool, though I might just fabricate my own out of aluminum with some heat shrink tubing on the tool end to prevent another accident. Gotta wait for the next paycheck though. I'm a big fan of food and drink, so that comes first.

lol... at least you diodnt break your soil probe in under 10 days.... I did... I was so :cuss: at myself.. :crying:

Yeah, downside to beiing an experimenter... nothing is untouichable for breakage.. :crying:

AS a kid, I took everything apart just to see how it worked...

Let me guess, but you always had like six or seven screws left and a few broken plastic bits when it was all said and done. Been there. These days I remember a little better where all the screws go ;)

I used to tweak my radios up for more transmit poer and better rcieve.. but yes... admittedly I broke more than I "fixed" But it was an education I'd never give uop!!! lol

yep... "Got some 'extra parts' here."
