Outdoor Growtogrow.. Michigan Unlimited multi strain organic grow

O ok.. I like running 13 on and 11 off. I get the most BANG for my buck.

So when I'm in veg and daylight hours are running around 12 total daylight hours...so that means Twilight in the morning and Twilight dusk in the evening which don't really count so much...that's right where I pump up with the light. I'll run 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening to extend my day so I get a full 17 or 18 hours out of the day of light.
But when I'm in flower here in Michigan in the summertime like I am now. I don't tarp in the morning time. But only tarp in the evening because there's a garage on the west side of my grow and it starts a shadow the grow cage around 5:30 in the afternoon.. right now this time of year... so at 7 the whole grow cage is mostly shadowed...So I close it up every night at 7.

And you know what my tarps got a few holes in it...there's a little light leak here in there.... But that a minut amount of light and has never bothered the first crop. And those holes have been in that tarp for probably probably 3 years. Granted those cannabis plants are pretty sensitive light.
But they're not that sensitive ....
I have a street light that's not 20 yards from my grow.. And has never bothers it....

The only thing ever bothers my damn plants.
Is the dumbass up the street that grows and doesn't know his freaking plants a male or female....:tang::warrior::grrr2::deadhorse::headbang:. or maybe he might have had a auto or something that through a pollen Sac....
I don't know. But my whole second crop last year got a few seeds in it here and there.... But the first crop never got nothing it was beautiful...well I can't say that.. the Dragon Blood gave me one seed. And that seed just happened to be a female plant that's growing right now........... Yeehaw !!!:pighug: :pass:
Hey GTG, :pass: :pighug: Thanks for the advice, i may try 14/10, means 5pm ( winter light will be low then) , then on at 7am ( though the coldest mornings would still be cold at 7am, sun hits grass around 7:30pm , tiny bit sun at 8am, then full at 8:30am

I didnt think light would be too much an issue, just as i was reading around RQS said to avoid street lights. Its good it has not affected them.

Strange that about the seedy buds. A few days back i harvested the old autos ( like 10 seeds in Big Bud), i wonder if one of the autos hermie or I have a grower like in your area, doubt it be my neighbour , could be genetics maybe also. That sucks Bro :( how you got seed,, very likely is some newbie not knowing whats a male or female, always best to start with autos, true upside of that is getting free seed , catepillar almost ruined one of my current autos :nono: i cant see it but suspect it, had to remove the rott it caused

Hey Smokey grow bro :pighug:
Well you know bud rot is not always caused by caterpillar poop.:holymoly: I was explaining this to a guy the other day.

I'm not sure how much of a farmer you are or not and I mean that in the sense of like baling hay and stacking hay and storing hay.?

So If there's too much traped moisture in green vegetation (plant matter) it builds up heat and (I can't remember the name right now having a:gassy: brain fart) but it can actually spontaneously combust. That's why you might see a barn or just a single bale of hay laying in a field that caught fire.... that doesn't have no electricity to it and nobody was there to lite it a blazz.
But it was because of the green too wet hay...when it was freshly and bailed it wasn't dry enough to bail yet and it causes a heat. And combustion of heat will catch fire. :hothot:So when it's does that on a live plant it causes rot. Because the plant can't burn. It's too wet and green.... but it will and can cus heat and that leads to the rot.
But a lot of people don't realize that and they spray their plants thinking they got bugs and poop and everything and it's just actually trapped moisture between the bud and stems or inside the bud itself... and the heat and moisture can't escape Quicken enough and it just creates its own energy but it can't burn. Hence the dreaded Bud rot can now live and form. And that happens more often than not inside and out. It happens a lot outside because you can't control the humidity. If you can keep an outside grow fairly dry you won't see nowhere near the chances of that type of Bud rot....

So you're pretty good grower and you watch your plants pretty well. And that's what it takes a spot that stuff quick. you'll know it fast when the plant is in flower and after a heavy Dew or rain a good amount of moisture in the air ie (heavy humidity) and you got tightly-packed buds...or dank dense buds... So one way I found to cure those kind of things is to actually physically get in there and pull the buds down away from the stalk a little bit and sometimes I'll even wedge a little piece of wood in between the stock and the bud to allow air flow. Usually just before Harvest is usually when I have seen these problems.
But like I said if you're on it it's not so hard to catch it quick and you can nipple Bud off before it gets out of hand.

The tall tale sign of Bud rot is generally a little yellow spot or a little tiny yellow leaf coming out of a bud that's usually always an indication of some type of heat in their killing that bud. And some of the worst Bud rot occurs with the sum of the dankest buds if they're big and they're dank and hard you really have to watch your plant closely 2 sometimes 3 times a day...Especially if you got high humidity. Fan's help a lot to help dry out the plant's. In another few days I will move 2 more fans out to my grow. I have one out there right now it goes 24/7 but I'll add 2 more and they'll go 24/7 to help keep the plants dryer.
I've already backed off on my foliar spraying now I only do it once every three days. I'll back that off to zero by the end of this week and only be ground feeding organic teas from there on out to harvest. Any foliar spraying I do from that point on will be just hydrogen peroxide and water mix. And or green cure if I have powdery mildew or something.
:pass:

What ever critter took the nibble got stoned. Really cannot blame them stunning buds jeez.. I will bet your upper body strength is great from doing the bucket shuffle. I know since I use buckets also but my plants and buckets are a lot smaller than yours.

Hey GTG ! :pass: :pighug: Thanks Grow Bro for the help. I do noticed the buds can build up a little moisture against the trunk. Thats a good idea with wood wedges. I didnt see any caterpillar but assume it so as had the same issue before and the lasted harvest had caterpillars in it, I am lucky the damage wasnt worse. I do check the plants now and then.

Handy to know about the bud rot with the yellow sugars, sometimes the indica based flowers can be very thick and dense. I use a pointy wooden skewer to check the buds. and it would make a nice wedge also to allow air flow.:hippy:

I am thinking tonight is the night for the girls to flip YAY:hippy: 5pm - 7am (14hours dark) then light sun and maybe T5s till sun hits at 8am. Thinking of using pvc tubing and fan for both in and out for air flow, plus fan inside to circulate to reduce mould or rot risk. Thats the plan.

The Bubba Kush will be one to watch for sure, and maybe Liberty Haze also, i think they might be the ones with the densest buds. Winter can be damp at times but mostly dry. I did noticed a bit of powery white stuff on the old autos leaves i just wiped it off.

Well didn't have enough room in the cage to put these big girls.
So made a new garden spot near the house. They should get about a good 6 or 7 hours of sunlight each day.

Still debating if I want light depth these 2 ? If I do I'll have to rig up another frame. I could and start tarping around the 10th or 15th and still finish by September10th or so.
The other 3 plants. The sage n sour is ready to go in and start and maybe the og fire but the blueberry is not ready.
I can make enough room in the cage for the og n sns and start them ASAP. Blueberry will need some more time. Mite let her grow out naturally ?

It's raining to night. I covered the cage at 6:45 with 1 fan running. I'll leave the cage covered until it stops raining so not to get to much moisture to the buds. I'll Water first thing in the morning to the root zone.

Thanks for hanging out with me:d5::cheers::smokeout:

Going to rain all week and part of next week from the sound of it. I'm getting only a couple hours of sun the last few days up here.

:pass::hippy: Girls looknig great GTG, thats good you can make room in the cage for , good idea with the cover and rain, dont want them wet at this stage. The girls out of the cage, maybe you could make a cage or nail tarp to the fence and attached to posts to bring over them. Haha i am thinking of riding in the cart and making a video lol, blazzing sun and cool 18c but nice day for girls, love your dog also, he seems to love helping out or observing

I see on the radar you've got a bit of rain coming today. My rain is about done here. Weather dude says spotty at best now. Cooler temps though... Nice.. could use to cool down a bit.
It looks like a chance of rain coming Friday here.

I've found the plant's really like the hazy day's as much or more than full sunshine. Sometimes I think I can hear them growing on those day's when they're in veg :holymoly:  :toke::pass:

Thanks Smokey:pighug:
Yup going to make a frame to hold a new blackout tarp. I bought 50'x6' live stock fence couple of day's ago. Need posts and some 2x3 or 2x4... Ugh ... treated wood is hard to come by right now. Will just get some untreated. It's much less costly. 4x4x8 post dgc are 15.50 each ouch. They were 7.50 2 month's ago. Shit you can hardy find them too. The lumber is getting scarce to find aroud here.

Tyson the dog.... He's my pal. He's my wife's dog ... But he likes hanging with me a little more these day's... As me and the wife have been together for amost 10 year's now. She baby's him too much and I think he gets tied of it LoL:rofl::shrug::cheers::pass:

:pass: :pighug: Hi GTG, thats a great idea, i hope to do some building down the track to grow out in the ground. I thinking of ways to have maybe mobile plants to block the plants when visitors arrive, thatsa plan down the track. That is crazy how lumber is is scare, must be all the covid again, its a curse of a thing. Our lumber isnt that cheap either, but there is some very cheap treated stuff, its on the grasshounds and seems durable as grasshounds are out in the weather 24/7.

 sounds like Tyson tries to avoid your wife, and he finds it better to hang with you and the ladies, lol i could see poor Tyson being smothered with too much affection and care. First night Light dept, I am up pretty early so have the water ready for them when the girls come out of the cage.

I have already gotten 3 inches of rain in 2 1/2 days. It isn't finished yet. My five photo plants are growing out of control, 2 of one strain have showed sex and are female. The other three of another strain haven't shown yet but I think two are male, so when I am sure I will be chopping one at least. My autos are all outside in pots, hope they don't drown. I'm ready for some sun again.
