Lighting GROWNORTHERN The Manual.

Dude I asked GN the very question you have asked about an after plug dimmer and I got a BIG no lol as for your tent I myself use a dr60 for the seedling the sex stage with a MS004 on 24/0 I've also experimented with light heights and you can have them to low or to high but your in the 'sweet spot' bro so I'm a little confused, what I have recommended in the past to people with height restrictions is to angle the light towards the wall of the tent for the first 5 to 7 days, angling will defuse the light so it's not as intense. Hope this helps and I'm sorry your having problems. Peace.

Thanks JT for responding so quick!

Yes I knew the plugin variac dimmer idea was silly, haha, but now I know for sure!

Angling the light away is a great idea, will try that in a minute!

Ultimately though think I'll just go 12/12 with this light for more mature plants,
my original idea was to use it as a Critical Mass clone tent for growing leaf for juicing to experiment with CBD,
but I guess they're too young to handle the intensity.
Also some plants are more sensitive than others and the ones I tried were weaklings I guess ,avocado tree and edamame all curled too.

May have to get the 004 after all for starting off.

Kinda loving the GN brotherhood, Dan must love you JT for starting a british led club:thumbs:

Polyethylene mesh or netting (shade netting) might be a good way, where height may be an issue, you just dull the intensity enough that you still get all the light needed but don't get the same intensity. and remove when they are old enough to be under brighter light.

edit: you could also vary the distance netting to light to get the right shading, closer the netting is to the light more direct light will pass through. (i believe anyhow) :D

2nd Edit: its avail in most garden centers

so a single ms006 would cost me atleast $400 U.S dollars ?

I have one MS-006 and want to purchase another, however I am interested in how much more energy efficient it would be than a 250w CFL, obviously it lasts a lot longer, but how much cheaper is it to run?
"She who must be.........." is away for a few days, so what better time to order an MS-006 on the sly, she probably wont even notice, but if she does then its always useful to have the information about energy saving to put her mind at rest

The LED is going to have more usable light than the CFL ,if you had a 200w CFL they would use about the same juice but your buds will be more plentyful under the MS006. You already know your gonna buy one lol

I had a 250w CFL and it cost the same to run as my 250w HPS. About 5p an hour just for the light. My MS006 runs at 2-3p per hour, so theoretically 2 MS006 would cost me the same as my HPS for about 400w :D :2cents:

Unless you misses watches the energy metre like a hawk she won't notice lol.

No she's not like that! ............. mainly because I keep her permanently stoned, I find it makes life much easier!!!............ and the OAP Winter heating allowance alway comes in handy too.
It means I can use one less CFL so thats a saving , which she will appreciate . Of course I may well need that CFL for the first week or so with young plants but thats ok
Ah well I did get a £30 discount on the last one , so it seems rather churlish not to get another one.......doesn't it???????????????????
Thanks guys for all your help

Cheers GP for tips, tried using some mosquito net from pound shop.

But I'm glad to say my concerns were short lived when I tried out a new batch of seeds and all is well!

The plants I tried out initially were just a bit weak, probably more prone to less intensity.

But these are doing ok:
