Here as a users guide, for posting questions and advice it would also be great to see your set up and plants. The one question I've been asked most is about light hight for different stages of growth so I will quickly explain that then show you my set ups,I've spoken to the guys at Grownorthern today and told them of this thread and they have kindly said they will do a testimonial telling us a little about the company so will edit it in when it arrives. After the pictures of my set ups I will paste the spec of the current modular series.

LIGHT HEIGHTS FOR MS004 and MS006.

Seedling to day 7 - 30 inches.

Day 7 to start of stretch - 24 inches.

Stretch phase - 18 inches.

Flower phase - 18 to 12 inches.

The modular series uses the same high quality Epistar chips for red, deep red and infrared as our classic 3w series. These are currently the highest performing red, far red and infra red spectra chips available. Apart from these chips the entire design and components are new.

Modular- A light for the future
Each 15 x 3 watt LED engine can be individually repaired, replaced or upgraded by the user (we will be releasing unique modules using the latest LED technology over the next 5 years so your units can be updated with current developments in LED technology & horticulture. This gives us the classic ballast & lamp format for making the units reusable if there are faults after the 3 year warranty period

GrowNorthen Warranty -3 Year
When your buying a product that is built to last along time and includes an extensive warranty, you want to be sure that the company will last as long as the product. We are one of the longest running and most established UK LED grow light specialists and we're here to stay. We have the experience and product knowledge to isolate and fix faults quickly and permanently.

Quality engineering and manufacturing
Our modular series only uses top spec components. The high quality chips and drivers are complimented by smart thermal and process engineering.

Custom- Everything’s modular
With diffrent casing, front shield and vent fascias available, along with a variety of secondary optics and LED modules to be released, these lights can be much further customized internally & externally.

Energy efficient & high output
The advantages of LEDs are well known and they are widely used in many consumer products. Due to break- throughs in AlGalnP, InGan and AlGaAs/InGaAs technology, LEDs can be effectively applied to horticulture. LEDs can produce precisely targeted, diffused spectra at a very high efficiency and optical intensity. We use AlGaAs/InGaAs technology to produce spectra at the optimal wavelength for green plants chlorophyll absorption peaks. We supplement our dominant photosynthetic light with wavelengths that effect plant hormones and format and wavelengths that keep plants healthy. Grownorthen has long been researching the optimal chip binning for efficiency and healthy production. We have made several important developments in the the commercial grow light industry. For example our latest Modular series offers superior radiometric output per cm2 with new improvements to optical collection and delivery. The new Deep red Epistar chips use the latest AlGaAs/InGaAs technology and can produce a WPE of 44%. Our new 720nm binning for our Epistar Far red/IR has a greater effect on plant hormones and improves the format and flower production from the previously used 740nm.

Recently many customers have asked us whether the Bridgelux and Cree chips more efficient than Epistar chips. Cree and Bridgelux do not use AlGaAs/InGaAs technology in their chips and subsequently do not make deep red or far red/IR chips. Bridgelux make very efficient GaN blue chips and Cree offer a wide range of chip technology but no visible wavelengths higher than 630nm. The latest chip from Epistar (BRPN42B) is the most efficient Deep red chip available. Companies such as Phillips, Osram and LEDengine use similar technology in pre encapsulated LED packages and can achieve higher outputs at 660nm. No grow light company currently offer the latest arrays in the LED grow light industry because of the cost per LED and the special tooling/machinery required for assembly. Starting with our latest range, the Modular series, we will be producing upgrade modules and custom optics using the very latest in LED array technology. We aim to be releasing the first LED array upgrade module in November 2012 and we also have confirmed a Phillips Rebel-es module for production early next year. This will give Grownorthern customers the option to use the latest components available to manufacturers.

Targeted Spectrum- 4 years R&D
Each LED produces specialized wavelengths of light that stimulates healthy growth through out plant development. Plants require three main spectral ranges for healthy, well formatted growth . Our 660nm and 640nm red spectrum LED's stimulates the primary photosynthetic response in plants. They are responsible for the primary energy intake of the plant in the form of sugar production in the chlorophyll cells. Our blue 460nm stimulates the plants phototropic process. This effects organ movements in higher plants. Blue light also keeps plant cells healthy and excited optimizing biophysical and biochemical reactions. Our Infrared 720nm effects plant morphogenisis/shape. Using the Red and IR together we regulate the shape of developing plants through the organic production of Auxins and Cytokins through the stimulation of photochromes. Plants receiving the right balance of the 2 spectrum's will grow healthy and stout with increased root and stem shoot production and auxiliary flowering . White 5700K optimizes the vacuole cells for turning the sugars into essential oils.

Ok guys here is a link to my grow thread, its a bit long but just look at the pictures if you want lol https://www.autoflower.org/f43/j-tangs-grownorthern-led-airpot-grow-9432.html thanks for looking in and any questions don't hesitate to ask. TaNg.

Thanks for posting this, I actually bought an ms004 about a week ago and ive definitely noticed the difference compared cfl. I am a newb grower though so I cant really give a very 'informed' comparison. I have an Easy Ryder thats 25 days old that seems to be enjoying itself under there and I'm hoping to start a Royal Queen Northern lights in a couple of days which will be my first time using the LED light from seed. Nice to see another grownorthern user out there :smokebuds:

Great to have you here man.

Thanks mate, wish i had more to contribute but hopefully that will come with time.

If you want me I'll be at the back taking notes :bong:

Don't worry dude I'm sure you will have some fine examples to show off soon, just added a link to my grow thread if you've not seen it.

Fantastic J, answered loads of questions i've had
Only fair I share a few pics, heres my 2 MS004's with their first power in the cupboard :D
