Ok so my grow room is in closet under my basement steps, its about 34"x34" and I have (4) 85w cfls and (1) 250w cfl. Even though they're not HPS they still kick out some heat thats for sure. I currently have 6 120mm fans running for intake/exhaust, however, this is a stealth grow so the fans intake and exhaust just into a small craw space under the remaining portion of the space under the steps. It helps but I'm sure this is a factor in not getting lower grow room temps.

Now with the closet door cracked and fans running temps stay a perfect 81. With the door closed they kick up to about 90-92. I can leave the closet door cracked open a lot but not always. I plan to add 2 more fans but still are there any other tricks you may know of to keep temps down?? Help!

Hey man. Not sure what those fans are really? I suggest getting a good inline fan that pulls the amount of cfm that you need, and with a carbon filter for odor. But either way, when you pull that warmer air out of there you gotta get it up and away from the area so that it's not just pulling that warm air right backing and circulating. With the inline fans you can have several feet of ducting from your exhaust that you can run to a window or something so that it gets out of the area.

Mine is in a bedroom closet and tent. The exhaust comes out of the tent from ducting and is attached on top of my tent blowing up and out of the closet. The intake is passive through the vent in the back, I haven't had terrible problems with it and it blows into the same room. The room doesn't even get any warmer really. But it just all depends, I keep it cool in the house so that helps. Also, I use pl-55 bulbs, they are considered T5, but technically they're cfl because of the bend in the bulb. They get warmer than T5 that's for sure.

Hope this helps.

If I understand what you're saying correctly removing a light isn't going to help. You're just venting from a cab into the tiny closet space it's in? That's not venting at all. You should have fresh air coming in from outside that little room and be venting it out. Squid's got a great point about an inline, and I'm sure six 120mm fans are just as loud as a good inline, but move less air. I'd definitely consider getting a four inch inline at the least, hook it up to a filter and vent out of the closet. If on the ground floor and there's a basement/crawlspace directly under the floorboards why not cut a little hole in that and vent the air out that?

I would have to agree with Squidherb.....you need to get that warm air out of the space and replace that air with cooler fresh air. Smell will become an issue

Is your basement finished? My guess would be yes due to the stair closet.
Do you have a drop ceiling in your basement? You might be able to do something above that with ducting if you do
You may have to look into building a light trap to vent your air thru if light leaks will be an issue

How many plants do you have and how far along are they??
Pictures would help
