Grow Startup Advise

@Arthur If recreational was legal here I would have no problem partaking on occasion again but having the responsibility of being the soul financial support system for a family of 5 one of which is a special needs grandchild I cannot take the risk of being caught with anything or doing anything illegal at the moment and being caught would also make me relinquish my license to grow.

Am 54 & understand your situation, understand there are many who have been supplying the industry legal or not have long been in the same boat.
Wife, family...
Now that it's legal, they're not welcome in the industry.

Many of us have served time, some still are, while a family waited... all for this weed.

Yes I resent those jumping in to make a buck.

If you were coming to me in person for the info, it would be discussed over a joint.
If you weren't interested, I'd point you to one of the many companies that would give you a turn key operation.

If you haven't ever grown weed before, then you need to spend some time in thought. Get a good grower. Let him set up the grow. Listen, and take him at his word (obviously references are needed) then run the business.

Growing is a skill, and I have yet to see a growers first few rounds that didnt have quality or quantity issues.

You wouldn't start a mechanic shop and be the mechanic because you've driven a car once or twice... find a qualified local grower.

@Arthur I am sorry that i dont have the funds or investors to open a Commercial grow operation by first hiring a grower, breeder and marketer but if i had that kind of money i would just open a Cannabis Testing Facility which is my next step then maybe my own dispensary. I did not open a mechanic shop but i did take care of all maintenance, repairs, and irrigation on a 13,000 acre farm with 5000 pecan trees because i had the knowledge and aptitude to do the job. Please do not judge my aptitude for operating this business I am starting without knowing my intelligence level or the amount of time i have spent researching my decisions.

@Arthur I know that in my state you can get your license to operate a grow facility with felonies they just have to be over 5 years old. I know i will not start out with 21 ounce yields and I might lose money on the first couple of grows but life is like a turtle (you cant get anywhere without sticking your neck out). I was afraid to take a chance once in my life and that was a big mistake so I am never making that mistake again.

Am not judging, just suggesting more thought.

If you don't have the money, your gonna get eaten alive in the legal market.

Not looking down on you, I live in the central valley California, I watch it all around me daily.

Something else to think about that I bet many around here and Oregon wished they had. There is a glut of mids. The price dropped, if your not running a storefront the $ per lb has crashed. Oregon is the worst hit. So much product it can't be gotten rid of. 15$ grams of rosin when I went thru a month ago. Indoor isn't cheap to grow, and when everyone in Oklahoma growing, and it can't leave the state, the market will follow ours.

Here is my theory if you provide a superior product by dedicating time and attention to detail what ever your business is you will be a success. Small town dispensaries and processors will buy local where I am from its just the ethics in my area. There are not any big growers in my area because of the way my state wrote the law to get the license you have to be a qualified resident and you have to own 75% of the company which i think was their way of trying to stop "Big Ag" from setting up shop and keeping the little guy down.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your in, established, and making money before the market goes. It will too...unless they open up interstate commerce...

Then all bets are off and I'll be looking for a rocketship to strap myself too.

I think that interstate commerce is within 5 years at the rate that things are turning it may just be medical to start but i still think 5 years.
