PHYTOMAX-2 1000 - a real 1000 watt led light. It offers 930 ppfd with 4x4 coverage @ 29". and 6x6 its 352 ppfd @ 47" - its dimensions are 28" x 28" x 12"
Neat light.

PlatinumLED has a new COB 1000 light that's $600 per 420 watts. So for a bit cheaper you could have 7 of these COBs and have 2940 watts of light with better coverage.
Or 5 P9-XML2s = 2775 watts if you really need the white light.

Do you have access to any other local grows? I'd ask them about lighting and monthly expenses.
Goals change from the tent to the market. In a tent I may well be willing to give up on efficiency for a particular benefit. But with a bottom line coming due every month, I'm betting quantum boards or possibly CMH will give the biggest bang for the buck.

But it is per sq meter

Do a little reasearch/ reading into black dog led you wont buy one after you do.

Quantum boards are by far the most efficient grow light i have used so far. (Even my chinese copy)
My small grow room is heavily insulated so i can only run my board at half power during most of the year 240w and normally yeild between 20-26oz per 4 plants in my hydro set up
Im expecting 2.8-3 gpw in my current grow.

But in a large commercial set up where lights are kept very high to maximise coverage i dont know how well they work.

I second the skepticism on Black Dog lights. There are a LOT better lights available for the money. I would not run Black Dog if they were half the price, hell - I wouldn't trade my HLG for a black dog if you paid me.

The Black Dog was suggested by my brother which is also starting a grow op. I unlike him am not under the impression that more $$$ is always better. I like to get lots of opinions from people actually using the lights daily and without endorsement deals with the manufacturer.

Be wary of companies "helping" to get grows started...

Many are only interested in a different green we bring.

Most lights on the market will grow something. Look at the internal components of any name brand, and then research those. Many use sub par diodes, drivers etc. Active cooling? One more thing to fail... also suggests to me poor diode choices. Led isn't as efficient when driven hard, best when in the middle of its rating, and most of the box lights drive them pretty hard, thus the fans needed.
I've run cobs now for 2 years, DIY. Came from 1K HPS/MH. Very happy with the end product, and the huge power savings...
Did I say huge? Yeah...like 80%
I will upgrade in the future, but it will be to quantum boards with the R spectrum.

No love for those entering the community that aren't and haven't been smokers.
