Dutch Passion Groff Labs: AutoWhite Widow & Think Different, 20L Coco & SOL 9 LED

Day 19

So I have confirmed a suspicion of mine (also discussed in Si's diary)... They may look small for 19 days, but with a much bigger pot (was using 10L before) and a strong root stimulant regime and a very low feeding/moisteness of the coco, all of the plant's energy is dedicated to searching for water and testing the limits of the root-zone spread. What they did not grow in height, they grew down. I hope that means jumbo sized plants!

EC is 0.6, pH between 5.5 and 5.7. Starting next week I will up to ph 5.7 - 5.8.
Feeding Rhizotonic at 4ml/L, which is not very pH friendly or stable, but with lots of love and care the fruits (or better, roots) are there. Just have to decide when it makes sense to lower, maybe another week and then down to 2ml/L. I also want to establish the root-zone a little more and start with the liquid silicon.

Temps are peaking high at 31C (mean 28C) and RH is 40%, which I am not happy about. Will have to think of something.

Think Different

AutoWhite Widow

Not too shabby for 19 days since sprout... I could almost turn this into and hybrid NFT table

Wow loving the roots :smokebuds: Girl looking nice and healthy :gthumb:

My TD did nothing but veg for 6 weeks, and then showed sex. Pretty sure it was the 10L Airpot.

Is it a good idea to leave your roots sat in a pool of algae like that dude? Drip trays look like they need a good clean imo. In two more weeks that girl will be a giant thanks to that root mass you have encouraged to develop. Nice job.

The more I see of airpots the more I like the look of them. Yes, they may be a little more fiddly to use and water than a normal plant pot. But, one of the main mistakes of less experienced growers is the tendency to over-water and with airpots I think that is unlikely to be an issue. So airpots seem to 'insure' the grower against one of the most common errors (overwatering). The constant oxygen migration thru the side-holes of an airpot do encourage a lot of root development

From what I see the only downside to airpots is the need to water on a daily basis.

Anyway, my random ramble is complete. The plants are looking good groff

Yh airpots most certainly increase root mass :D: they seem to take a little longer to go North but shes just taking time putting her shoes on. What i do with mine is water every 2 days to make sure there empty and they take a full feed till every bit of the soil is wet and plenty of run of to make sure ive got rite round the edges lol Been penty of times ive waterd airpots and got shit loads of run off so i thought yeh done.. Infact she could of taken her another 2 L to fill her up:peace:

Oh dear, Tony you may have contracted Jorilla-itis.

Mr Jorilla.

ps. Groff the plants are looking good... Do the runoff trays also contain some of your special Groff- broth?

Na, this time round I'm plain old pot watering, no bubbling of the run-off... Yeah, It does look like gunk down there but its not, its camera fx due to white balancing. It does look freaky though, but I assure you there is no algae down there. The roots just keep on growing!! Even though there is like 0.05mm of run-off in the tray, everyday there is more and more and more spread. I am starting to get worried I may run into trouble like root rot or something. What should I do here, raise the pots? Trim the roots?

I've upped the EC to 1.0 as the TD's as complaining for food. I've also introduced Liquid Silicon at 0.5ml/L and rhizotonic down to 2ml/L, A&B at 1ml/L, Sensisym 2ml/L, pH 5.8
